I wonder why bog king is so attractive despite he is supposed to be ugly, I think he is very elegant, and authentic, Mr. Lucas knows so well how to create such caracters
I think the voice has a lot to do with it. The music doesn’t hurt either.

he has a great physique, excellent jaw line, smooth voice, adorkable, charming, need i go on?
He's got this neat mix of conventionally "unattractive" features that are put together in such a way as to still be very pleasing to the eye. His gnarled skin also gives him a mantis-like elegance. His stretched out features also emphasize his expressions. His jaw is long and pointed, but it gives his face a power to it, his nose is huge but it matches his jawline perfectly. His worn-wooded texture also give us a good sense of what he's feeling, and how much he's been through. He's got a lot of raw emotion worked into his design.
It's honestly some of the best character-design I've ever seen. Course, being just an interesting and likable character goes a long ways into it as well.
Regal and how one carries themself, goes a long way.

Strange Magic while being kinda cheesy is a good movie and the song itself strange magic between Bog and Marianne is a good song choice. Those two are good characters and mesh well together. Only nitpick I have is I wish there was more dialogue than singing especially when it concerns Bog and Marianne and her sister Dawn and the elf Sunny and the sugar plum fairy as well as Grizelda and the two right hands of the bog king. Would love to hear more speaking roles and how they interact with each other.

Loved how he showed her that the bog, the dank dark scary part of the woods was actually very beautiful in it's own way. Just as full of life as anywhere else. She just needed to see it in a new way. At first I thought this would be a corny and cheaply done animated movie but my eyes were opened to all that this movie had to offer. Wonderfully done.

I always said I would never accept one day love between characters. but THIS... I WILL ALWAYS ACCEPT THIS!! sure, they both fell in love overnight but i saw how it progressed. unlike in any other animation.

I love when they go through the thorn bush and Marianne got her wing caught and backed up and he had came back and held her while going through the thorn bush. It's just so romantic! LOVE this movie.
I have no idea why this movie has such a low score. It has great animation, fun story, good and interesting characters, great music, great humor and really good message. Every time I come back to watch it, I love it more and more. Definitely one of my favorites.
I always squeal at the way Bog’s eyes light up and smiles when Marianne opens her wings, but I just now saw her soft love-filled face at him at 0:17 and I think I’m drowning in feelings.... I love this pairing so much!

In the one scene when roland tries to throw the potion on her. Bog jumps in front of her to protect her. Even though he had her restrained she still smiled at him

Came across this movie by accident. And I loved it so much! It's definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen. Great animation, soundtrack, characters, humour, ending, action scenes... Everything is pure strange magic
What makes this two pair work SO WELL personally for me is also how Marianne is written. Hell yea she's fierce and adventurous and heroic. But she's still got that romantic soft side. She's always had it really, but because of the trauma she hidden that side. Until now. I love her character writing. Both of them so done right.

I absolutely loved this video it really does capture the love between those two when they sing together ❤️, this movie was the absolute best and I hope they make a sequel because I thought the first was beautiful touching and yes magical
Right! I can honestly say this is probably one of the few romances I didn't cringe or think it's cheesy. It's so amazing 👏hands 👏down👏 I love how it showed reality a bit liking someone simply because they look handsome/pretty, judging someone by their looks, some people in relationships where their partner doesn't want them to be their true self which is but Bog and Marianne fell in love by each others actions, true colors, and opening up to each other🤎

Eugene and Rapunzel's relationship, I feel, is a good example of that. If you watch the Tangled Series and Tangled: Forever After movie. You'll see just how their relationship developed, between the CG film and series. How they didn't just jump straight into marriage.
The series showing Rapunzel asking Eugene to be patient with her, to which he makes that promise. It's really sweet. I deff recommend.

I loved this movie. Of course their relationship could be more developed. I mean, they had few time to get along and know each other. The quality is more important than quantity, but this would had more interesting if they had at least some days.

I feel like Strange Magic had the right elements, but just fell flat on pacing. The story needs some reworking, and to fix it, I would honestly cut out the beginning, starting the film when Marrianne's already the character she is throughout the film anyway, that stuff being natural exposition/backstory we get through her sister and ex. In this case we didn't really need to see her change. And maybe we could cut some other things out too, so that then there's more time to develop this relationship, which should have been the main focus of the film. Instead of it suddenly developing in the last third of the movie, have it happen somewhere in the second. Because right after this song comes the crisis, and it's all just too fast.
For Dawn and Sunny, I feel it would have worked better (and this isn't my idea, I just think its a really good idea) if she does like Sunny back, but can't due to class, like elves are below fairies in their feudal system and it would be frowned upon for them to pursue a relationship.
And lastly have what's his face (the ex) retrieve the love potion. Gives him something more to do rather than be a Gaston clone with his Kill The Beast battalion.
@Pink Buninja Yeah, I totally get it. Strange Magic is a strange film for me. I love it, but at the same time know it's not a good film. A guilty pleasure.
Yeah, pacing and some story beats could use some work, but it's still a fun film. My fav guilty pleasure movie.
I agree it should be redone to have a better structure and their relationship should have been the main focus like you said. (Because it’s so interesting.) It would have been such a great movie.

Here in 2024. Im so sad im late but im here nonetheless. I saw this film when it came out and will admit i felt indifferent about it. Because it's obvious im a late bloomer when it comes to soft and romantic stories. But after my Demisexual awakening just a few years ago everything changed. I never really 'forgot' this movie because IT WAS SUCH A STRANGE MOVIE. But a week ago a random movie breakdown channel with this movie came on my timeline I took another look.
And now....... I love it. Flaws and all. The pure sweetness done right out weighs the flaws. Im so glad ive got another movie to love.

I rather like this movie. I'm still pissed that Disney refused to release it on blu-ray though. There is no excuse for a movie made this decade (by anyone other than an indie studio with a shoestring budget) to not be released on blu-ray. In fact I would consider DVD releases to be optional by now and blu-ray to be required. I remember reading somewhere that this movie was an obligation by Lucas as part of the Star Wars purchase deal, so I imagine Disney hated it from the very start. No I have not independently verified that fact, but it makes perfect sense to me.
