    What the flip this is amazing how did I miss this video! How do I do the pattern? How do I do the torso? I need one ASAP!

    • @LindyDesignLab
      @LindyDesignLab  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plastic wrap and tape method for whatever mannequin part you need. My torso was filled with spray foam and skinned with paper mache .

    How do you keep the camera above your head 90 degrees perpendicular to the table?

    • @LindyDesignLab
      @LindyDesignLab  ปีที่แล้ว

      Tripod with the back leg extended further than the two front legs, with a weight or tie down to keep it from falling over, then tilt the tripod head until camera is level to the work surface.

    • @Yomomma-jf9iy
      @Yomomma-jf9iy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LindyDesignLab Gosh, that never worked for me. Thank you for telling us.

    Speaking of your dress form, did you also make it? I have an adjustable dress form but it doesn't really replicate my body shape accurately, so I'd love to know how to custom make one

    • @LindyDesignLab
      @LindyDesignLab  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I made the body basically the same way, plastic wrap and tape over my whole torso then cut it off, taped the seam back together and also plugged up the leg and arm openings then made it solid with expanding spray foam around a newspaper core. I put paper mache over that to smooth it out, but that was a bad idea because now it's too hard to stick pins into. If I were to make it again I would do it completely out of floor mat foam like the head. Hope that helps :)

    • @gutssparkle

      Probably not, as they need to be a custom sized and the only way you can get that perfect size is by patterning your own head.

    Is that the only kind of cement you can use if so where can you get it from

    • @LindyDesignLab
      @LindyDesignLab  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are other brands of contact cement that will work. Barge brand might even be better, but the Weldwood is easiest to find at Walmart, home improvements stores etc. and has always worked well for me. Also a link in the description for Amazon.

    I tried this but found my foam head was about 2 inches larger than my real head, due to the foam. So I think I’ll try again and reduce my templates digitally to account for the foam thickness.

  • @tedhobgood

    That was chock full of inspiration! And I have almost all that stuff laying around the house! I'm hoping to do this soon. One question: what is that little wooden mushroom doohickey you used to help pre-curve your foam pieces? Any idea where I might get one? That looked super-useful, but I'm not sure how to begin looking for it (other than googling "wooden mushroom," ha.) Thanks for the cool video + the inspiration!

    • @LindyDesignLab
      @LindyDesignLab  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    But you cant heat the wig when this is under it, can you

    • @LindyDesignLab
      @LindyDesignLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure you can within reason. Blow drier doesn't get nearly as hot as the heat gun used to shape the foam.
