there is an error. At 7:18 the formatted cells are turning red based on G5 rather than changing. Note: 7:53 cell E24 is not red even though it is less than G25. I appreciated this video and learned a lot. Not sure how to fix this formatting so that it changes as I use the format painter tool. Thank you.
While using the format painter... After you click on cell H5, the field value goes to =$H$5. You need to change this to =$H5 so that the conditional format painter will cascade properly as the rows go down. Otherwise all E column row values will be compared to the H5 cell only. E6 compares to H5, E7 compares to H5, etc, etc. So taking the second $ out, now E6 compares to H6, E7 compares to H7, etc, etc.
Just received with thanks my copy of the Creating an Inventory with Re Ordering component. Saved a copy to use with our inventory and opened Sheet 1 and inserted our inventory details. I then went to rename Sheet 1 to a relevant name for ourselves and found this action wasn't available. I also found the very useful Move or copy function wasn't available either. What do we need to do to enable these functions please? Cheers Ron
in the formula for the red Marker If I try to do what you did it just makes all the quantities row connect to the order level on 5G. I have to make a rule for each row for each separate quantity and level order.
Hi George, when you run low of inventory, it may take a couple of weeks to replace your items. You still however, need to continue fulfilling orders. If you run out of inventory, you make no sales. So your re-order level is the minimum level to drop down to, whilst still making sales and waiting for new supplies. The re-order qty, is enough stock to fill potential orders and also accommodate the delivery time [lead time].
You made a mistake with the reordering level You mixed up Re order level with reorder quantity. When you were doing the format. Because the reorder level is supposed to indicate when you need to order more But you got the format selected to the quantity to the reorder quantity.

Hi Marc, 'Lead Time' is the duration it takes between 'placing an order' for good and 'physically receiving' the goods.
