Having been born and raised on a farm in the U.S. I totally appreciate this beautiful and honest video. I hope to be moving to China next month and will be anxious to travel to the small farming villages and rural areas.
What a humble pretty lady, I already like her😍🥰Thanks for these videos, I really like watching these kinds of documentaries and you got me. Your content has substance and I really love the charm it emits. More power to you
Thanks for the wonderful video about rural China. So well done. And that cute, young girl Lin still displays that typical country girl manners that are actually common to many people that grew up in rural areas. The city ruins a lot of natural behavior. Wonderful.
It is great to see how diferent countries face different problems, I live in the countryside of Brazil and we face lack of infrastructure but we don't have any shortage of land, in fact, most of the land is not being used.
That's interesting. Do most people live in urban areas? Here in China, not many people live in the countryside, but all the land is cultivated to feed the huge population. China also probably has less fertile land compared to Brazil.
@@anushavenkatachalam2323 Brazil is extremely rich in minerals, and unfortunately most of their land is utilised for mining....they are the second biggest country for mining iron ore, and have over 8,700 mining companies that are purely for profit, destroying native bush and the Amazon forest, which in turn destabilises the land, causing erosion. It's a shame their agricultural sector isn't utilised more, but their biggest industries are petroleum processing, automotive, cement, iron and steel production, chemical production, and aerospace.
a great film, appreciate the natural and organic way of telling the story about rural China without over-romanticising, love it, hope to see more work from Anusha
This was beautiful. My parents came from Sichuan. I can’t travel there due to covid but I experienced in this wonderful video. Thank you so much. Just wondering how this lovely lady and her cousin have such great English. Really impressive.
That was about the most real video of China I have seen. Just a real girl sharing real life in her part of a diverse country. You should be proud of yourself. I loved Sichuan and will return again soon.
Love it, I am drawn to the way people live, & work in these communities, as you so eloquently said, "they live by Nature and the Seasons", thank u! 🥳💜💫
I loved every part of your video, yeah we should be more natural, embrace nature and respect nature. Its the need of the present hour for the glory of the future.
I'm also a local person in Sichuan chengdu, but in china's high speed urbanizatiom, my old house has been dismantled when i was 3 years old, ove your vedio😊
My ancestors are originally from Sichuan then they moved to the Philippines (and stayed since the 1800's) it's good to see the province we never had the chance to visit
Really enjoyed this smart young chinese women's tour and commentry. I have been to China twice in 2015 and travelled mainly with local people and local hotels. I too hope that the development of tourism in the poorer areas of China can help the people without destroying the rural culture.
Information.. information.. information.. Each and every second of this video has some useful information.. Wonderful compilation and good flow as well.. The name, Anusha Venkatachalam looks like an Indian -Tamil name, but what is the connection with China??
Thanks for watching! You're right, I'm a Tamilian from India who visited the Chinese countryside for the first time in 2018, as a volunteer on a farm. I was so enamoured by the beauty of this place, I ended up living and working here.
How Awesome the movie and the town, The beautifilled People and Style and Way, Gratitude and Thank you Anusha, Lin Xi, and cast for the journey inspiring me to come and touch, taste, feel, see and hear its Ancient heartbeat, and its Rich vibrant tones
This town is such a contrast compared to the modern cities, it is sad that the old town are disappearing, but then China's modern cities are the most advanced and convenient in the world.
I live in east China, which is much richer than south-west China, as is shown in the video. But in the countriside, we don't have such beautiful natural landscape like that in the video. We don't have any mountain, we only have numerous rivers. We don't need to grow as a living, because we have facrories everywhere, which could offer us a decent enough salary. Since I was born, about 20 years ago, I have never seen old houses, so when I go traveling to other places, I am always interested in those old houses, actually I like the feeling they gave me.
Intelligent episode. I love the emphasis on rural living and sustainability. Lin Xi is very lovely and explains the value of rural life very well. She and her uncle speak excellent English. If the dead are cremated, the ashes shouldn’t take much room in the land, it’s the tombstones that families want to build to honor them that take up room, is that the issue?
Yes, that's right. In Chinese culture, the size of the tombstone reflects how much that person was loved/cared for. The more decorative, the better. Old people save money for years prior to their death, so they could have a grand burial. Since the govt. banned it, people go to the electric crematorium. But they still build these tombs with the ashes. So, the issue is not burial vs. cremation. It's more about the tombs.
@@anushavenkatachalam2323 Thank you for the explanation! Yes tombs have their significance and value. Maybe they can be built in the courtyard of their own home and land. Is this possible?
It probably differs in each Province, but usually the Chinese don't bury or build graves right next to their homes. This is mostly done for pet animals. The graves are built at a distance, either on a their farmland or other areas in the village. It also common to see group burials, where a family is buried next to each other. So, building graves in the courtyard is not practical. Also, in China there is no private ownership of land. All land belongs to the govt. or rural collectives. So, there is no clear distinction between private and public, as is the case in other countries.
When I was a kid, China had ~80% of the 10billion population lived in villages, now it's 40%, and most of the villagers are senior citizens or agriculture related workers . Thanks for this great video for showing how rural China looks like in the context of fast modernizing China. I can see the quiet and green village is now tourist destination of busy workers from noisy cities and foreign counties. Hiking and biking is our weekend activities here in the west, hopefully, the local government will plan and build roads in those villages, and reserve the beauty of nature for the coming tourist and the future generations.
I loved this video as is, including the choice of subject matter, beautiful imagery, heartwarming message and lovely way of presentation by that smart and kind young lady, Lin Xi. So far, I have mostly only known Chengdu (plus Beijing and Xi'an) where I lived and married my beloved wife. Thanks this video I just got motivated to explore the rural areas of Sichuan (and other provinces of China) as well, after moving back early next year. Wonderful work Anusha, congratulations and thank you again.
Hi. I'm from northeast India Love to see the country side of china.. believe it or not china and north east india is almost the same ..we believe our ancestors are coming from China... feeling nostalgic seeing ur video...
I'm in California USA and I love the countryside living. You are just such a fabulous host. Thanks for this video. China is very beautiful. My girlfriend is from Beijing. Don't develop rural China like the cities. The balance is beautiful and necessary for healthy living. Helping the farmers with new technology can benefit them a lot. I would love to live in rural China someday. It's sooo beautiful...
The Chinese government has made "rural revitalization" a key priority in their work over the next 10 years. Think modernization of amenities, access to services and infrastructure, while striving to preserve the ecological, architectural and environmental treasures unique to each locale as much as possible. All while narrowing the income and wealth divide between urban and rural. Lofty goals to be sure, but then the Chinese hardly ever settled for less. 😄
I have a home in Chengdu where I live part of the year. This is a very interesting video and I really enjoyed watching it, Is your home town near to Mianyang?
