this can only happen because of the great infrastructure development in China. If you can easily travel from and to countryside through highway and rails, if you have good electricity and internet connection in rural area, it also mean you have no problems getting what you need from online and delivered, it also mean you have no problem go back and forth to big cities when you are bored living in countryside, it also mean it is possible if you choose to work from home. Without superb infrastructure, living in countryside with no electricity and good internet connection, I doubt many will choose that life. But this is good news for China, who tried to move more people to cities through urbanization to give them better paid works in the cities, while at the same time try to send more talents to the rural areas to serve the people who still living there.

Everything a country is rests on Public Infrastructure/ Public Healthcare / Public Social Services. Unfortunately, SG doesn't have a lot of this, contrary to popular belief, &, I believe, over-individualism/selfishness.

This is common throughout China. It was part of President Xi's NO POVETY project.
The way that China handled moving 800 Million (twice the population of USA) from poverty to Middle Class lifestyles (MCLS) was REMARKABLE. They used their DOCTORATE students.
To complete their Doctorate, the student had to pick a project to move communities from Poverty to Middle Class Life Styles.
They had to observe and record the communities production strengths.
They had to present a paper on how this could be ENHANCED (not cut down and insert something else).
They had to do a costing to make the Enhancements.
They had to present a process for self sustaining the enhancements.
Then the Government gave them ALL the money they needed to implement the transition (millions of yuan were asked, and millions of yuan were awarded).
An example of the incredible transition from Poverty to MCLS was a small yak community. They were a poor community but made enough for people to live a very basic life ... but not much of a future for their children.
A Doctorate student lived with them for a year, did the recommendation to the government to move the to the MCLS and the costs needed to make it happen. The Government awarded the funds.
Within 2 years the community built a Yak Market, selling Yak products (hygiene, medicine, clothing, crafts, paintings, etc.). The youth of the community were taught to do Live Online Broadcasts and Marketing. Roads were built from the nearest freeways, HSR stations, and commuting transports run by locals. 1.5 Billion Citizens in China were alerted to this community, and millions started to tour every year to experience the Yak country lifestyle. When asking an old Yak Herder of his experience in the upgrade, he could not believe what had happened. He said he had 30 yaks, but now he's got hundreds, with helpers helping him and bots (but he still looks after his 30). He said he goes to the Market and he goes back home with WADS of CASH in his hands. The locals now run cultural village restaurants and entertainment for the tourist who want to experience their culture. The village people now have modern schools, communication centres, banks, hotels, etc. ... and they NEVER had to change their culture, traditions, music, dances, attire, or belief's. They are extremely joyful in being able to show their life style and culture to the world.

My parents grew up in the rural side in China. When they advanced in their careers, they moved to a big city, but they still maintain their rural home in a nice condition. I grew up in a city, though every once in a while I came back to the countryside and enjoyed much slower pace of life. Now I no longer live in China, but I still reminisce those simple days.

It is important to point Lishui is located in Zhenjiang, one of the richest province in China with an average income probably on par with Spain. It is also located very close to three major cities, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo. Traditionally, lishui is poor due to its location within mountains (which makes it beautiful but difficult to access). But now with high speed rail and high speed express way, this location can be accessed very easily. I believe just 30 minutes by train from Hangzhou and probably 1 and half hour from Shanghai. They can also easily reach their audiences via high speed internet, very large logistics centers also located nearby with mostly same day delivery. So this is a human success story, but also a success story of great infrastructures

But don’t you guys see, when we visit rural places for vacation other than the beautiful surroundings, the people in it play a big role in our fun moments.. generally, provincial people are just genuinely welcoming, kinder, gentle and when you meet the right locals, they are always generous with whatever little they have.. this is what the world needs. this really hit so hard we are influenced and taught that success is gaining satisfaction in career, money and worldly things when, actually true happiness is living life in simplicity but because of greed, we make life complicated when it was supposed to be lived simply.

This China demise is so overstated, I own factories in Dongguan and Jiangxi and it is difficult to get workers, sure there is some restructuring and realignment going on and people loose jobs and factories close - but new opportunities also open up.

It's China's demise in what we used to know it for; but it's really a long overdue internal restructuring, like puberty. What we're all intrigued about is whether or not it works out in the end for them - these are the dangerous times for entire countries, but necessary if they want to actually grow.

I recently watched a Chinese drama "Meet Yourself", that was set in a fictional rural village in china and it really sparked my interest about the countryside in China. It looked so beautiful and peaceful just like the countryside in this video.
I cant imagine how peaceful it must be over there.

I think this is something we can all relate to on a certain level. I live in the states, and I grew up in NYC, literally the city that never sleeps. While I did enjoy my teen and 20s there, hitting 30 was a game changer for me. I realized I stopped wanting to socialize as much and just want to enjoy life in a gradually slower pace as I get older and older. I would just go to upstate or PA on a getaway to small towns and villages to just spend the weekend.

I believe this is a trend that is happening in every developed country that for years had people all going to the town. There are many abandoned towns that can be a hotbed for tourism but they need to offer something different. Maybe based on their history they can leverage that to make the experience unique. Deep blue is a fantastic idea, im sure there are other fantastic spot man made or natural that could offer a unique experience. Good on them! I think technology will help sustain the trend too.

Rural healthcare and education was still lacking as all three entrepreneurs described at the end when compared to city life and their family as many will have children in future which is a constant attitude of humanity so Healthcare and Education needs to be physically re ignited the digital classroom doesn't work and nor does online consult and counselling it can be adjunct not replacement of physical infrastructure like follow up refill of meds can be online but not emergency consulting or robotic surgery which do need physical presence of environment for healthcare delivery so does the classroom ambience to teach and enable a critical attitude to question when other students are present to develop what education is meant for.

This is very good! Whether remaining as isolated experiments for now, or evolving into a sustainable way of life these enterprises will likely bring much larger and more profound changes in rural, and not only rural areas. With the substantial help of China's infrastructure, and drawing strength from the tradition and basic coherence of the society, this re-evaluation and shift of life priorities and lifestyles, embedded into a blend of rural-modern ambiance may well usher a renaissance in the country. I would wholeheartedly recommend encouraging, helping, and expanding this type of activities.
