That or similar was my first motorized model 68 years ago. Through my uncle's encouragement I think I probably go O set then maybe No1. He had a huge collection and fed me extra parts either from his own stock or sometimes his visits to a town with a dealer.but my first magic motor came from from his remaining X set. My own collection grew proably to about a No.7 when I inherited his whole Meccano stock proably rather in the region of about 1.5 cwt in weight with at least 2 No.10 worth of gears and more technical parts pre 1914 heavy gauge silver parts fibre plates ( much disintegrated) the large clockwork motor (not operational) proably Bing or Markiin? and a strange planetary gear set up all pressed assembled but with input / output Meccano gauge shafting and some hole spacing to suit Meccano, plenty of gold and cross hatched strips ,plates girders etc The incomplete car kits in both scales and airplanes in broken parts. I am ashamed to say as a teenager aged 15 1 sold the lt for £10 .,however I started collecting again in 1970 and as I bash this note out I am surrounded by an over large collection.,but oh! to have some of those parts from the pre first world war and the constructor cars even if not complete and non working.!
Simon. You've had a great and joyful journey with the Meccanos over the decades. I appreciate it very much. I wish you pleasent time with this great hobby.
