You cannot adjust the height of the blade in this saw. Slot cutting is no problem but you have to come up with a sled like Harris to set the appropriate height. Hard wood is no problem for it. As long as your not pushing too hard / deep
Houtje Boom - Be Creative I buy my T tracks in JYSK they have stores in many countries. The ones I use are some very cheap curtain rods but they work fine, they measure 14.5 x 8 mm and cost around € 5 for 1.5 m
John Colgan Yes, there is a big difference between the two saws. The FET has multiple forces, the cutting depth can be adjusted, the saw blade is angled and it can be cut in almost any wood. It is a pleasure to work with it, the only minus is that it is too expensive. The KS230 can really only be used for very small things. It is not a saw I would recommend.
Thank you for that. I find my FET a bit noisy & dusty (my workshop is the corner of my lounge,) but it has served me well with it's own limitations for 6 years. I've recently added a cyclone dust separator with aluminium cyclone (USA) & wide mouth 20ltr HDPE container, and improved the dust vacuum port, now I have a spotless vacuum cleaner & cleaner work area
Thank you for your comment, it is quite simple to remove the top plans on the saw, but my saw is the old model where it is just a few screws that need to be unscrewed, it may be different on newer models. If it is completely impossible to take your saw apart, you can simply remove the saw blade, turn the whole saw upside down and start by mounting the three thin strips on the base plate.
It's not quite that simple, when I made it the first time I used what I had of materials. If it is to be made again, I have to go out and buy materials and spend a lot of time and then it has to be sent and it also costs a lot, a total price that exceeds what I think it should cost. So unfortunately no thanks for the work, sorry.
Sorry, I do not have it anymore, it and the saw were given to someone in the family because I did not need it as I have the larger model. But you can easily make one yourself.
Sorry, there are no drawings it is made based on what I had lying around. The base plate measures 29.8 x 26.1 x 0.3 cm. the rest of the measurements you can measure on the saw or make as you like. It is very easy to make, there are only two things that are important, the guide piece must fit very precisely in the groove and everything must be at a 90˚ angle.
@@picrust314 not Harris but I would always recommend to make the fence adjustable. The table is more than wide enough so that you can fit a bolt and nut on each side. Just put two threaded inserts into the fence one on each side. Make one hole a bit oversized and voila. You can fine tune perfect 90 degree angle.
When building a cross cut sled, you might be interested in this video th-cam.com/video/UbG-n--LFgQ/w-d-xo.html which shows how to check and adjust the right angle of the fence. The principle is simple: you make 5 cuts in succession in such a way that each cut depends on the accuracy of the previous one. In this way, every misalignement you have in the 90° angle is amplified by a factor of 4 and can easily be measured with a caliper (yes you heared right, caliper)
What thickness would you recomend for a crosscut for the FET saw? Is it MDF?

Is there much difference in the cutting power, depth, speed, etc between the KS & the FET ? Does it just use the HSS blade or the TCT ?

hi...great video.....can i ask how you removed the top plate....on my saw it seems to be fixed to the saw motor?

I do not have equal access to the saw but the bottom of the Cross Cut Sled is 3 mm so that is what you need to pull from the original saw blade height
Please It would be great to have the plans or at the basic measurements thickness of wood etc

Yes it is a good method to check for a saw saver at an angle that I also use. However, it works best for slightly larger saws.
