Strictly ATV actually rebranded and became Central rather than same as other franchise and being bought out and replaced. Effectively it was the same company with a new name and look since the IBA wanted them to more Midlands centric than they had been.
@@robertcomer2767 Surely better than Carlton though, didn't live in the region but Central made some of great drama's though. Mind you I generally miss regional ITV don't you?
50:49 (Correction) Now broadcasting as ITV, UTV like the rest of them (exc. STV), UTV sadly no more. Damn there's only STV left as a regional ITV station.
What was the Granada Television International programme with the Beatles' 'Sun King' on the end credits ? Also thanks for including a bit of The Army Game opening titles with the fanfare at the beginning - my mum would sing that tune whenever the trumpet reveille came up in a straight film!
That was from a documentary called My Son Kevin about a boy growing up with no fully grown arms or legs due to the mother’s drug use. The documentary ends with putting on the Abbey Road album, which played over the credits, hence the snatch of Sun King.
I love these old compilations but I wish they weren't ruined by all having to go through the part with the same old deadly dull generic ITV rebrand. Pity that ITV doesn't have to justify its franchises every ten years as well. It might buck up their imagination a bit.

A reminder of how mediocre the Tyne Tees idents were once colour TV arrived. Nostalgic though. Wonder if we'll be looking fondly at a set of TH-cam logos in 20 years' time?
Love the ATV and Southern ident. The farewell Southern jingle fading away is rather haunting and sad
ITV:not this again
22:08. Scottish TV had to take off the logo with the Lion Rampart spinning because the Lord Lyon felt it was insulting.
The falling leaf changing into the Granada logo recalls Gerald Scarfe's animation work for Pink Floyd.
38:22 loved the ending of Worzel Gummidge....always a different mishap....brilliant production from Southern!

That I might agree of...
Bloody IBA. There was no need for ATV to lose its name. Central never came anywhere near close.

@@jane1975To be honest I bet we got a better deal in that we sort of kept ATV. Like those in London that lost Thames for Carlton

I think it's only temporary. When life gets back to normal, UTV should probably return.
@@chestnutbloke305 It’s permanent
I wish ITV could bring these channels’ old style back on their anniversary!bac

ATV Replaced Central.

Why is the southern logo spinning and shrinking to the abyss of space?
I am infuriated by the fact that, the logo spinning is not the perfect circle

1:14:59 - Welcome to HTV. Unless you're epileptic, in which case you probably won't hear this bit, lol.....
Southern had some dosh, then, eh? A whole orchestral score, and everything! Super-high production values, too, for its day.
