    Interesting how that 70-300 lens takes such good video, yet such crappy stills.

      That was baffling to me too. Maybe because I had a slow shutter speed - no idea. It is not an L lens - just an old long lens. It works great on the 60D but not sure how sharp those photos are either. Old L glass works great on the new bodies but even the new inexpensive R glass is pretty awesome. 🙏💖🤗

    I have to disagree. I have an old EF 70-200/4 IS. I took it the other day to photograph a dance performance. I used the R6II, I was at ISO 6400, the old zoom worked better than it had ever performed. The AF kept up with the action and had a lot of tack sharp images. Plus it didn’t weight anything compared to the 2.8 version.

      This EF 70-300 is the first old - and it is OLD - lens that did not produce great images. I love my EF 70-200 F2.8 and shot my last event almost exclusively with that lens on the R5. My V1 of the 100-400 struggles a bit sometimes too but overall, it is fine. I have been shooting the RF 100-400 and find the image quality to be fantastic - new cheap lens that almost rivals the EF 70-200 I have. The newer glass and coatings has improved so much. If you remember back, kit lenses were a joke in the past. Now the kit lenses are fantastic - new glass, new coatings etc. I still love my EF 70-200. This old 70-300 though.... not so much. The 800 F11, the 200-800, the 100-400... really cant go wrong with ne glass. The 100-500 is simply superior hands down but not as fast. For an event, I want an F2.8 🙏💖🤗

    I really feel you should specify that the main problem with the bad photos is the lens, not the Canon EOS R7 because I have that camera and the photos I get are utterly amazing compared to those, which could missinform some people about that camera as, because of the price, is one of the best option.

    • @JonnyPink65
      @JonnyPink65  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh no, I thought I was clear on that - that the OLD EF 70-300 lens was/is the problem. I have been shooting the R50 with the RF 100-400 for the last couple of days and it is AWESOME. i be comparing images with the 100-400 on the R7 and the R50. I love my R7 and how much more flexibility it has compared to the R50. I will bring it up in a future video - the R7 is AWESOME!!! 🙏💖🤗

    Canon made three levels of EF Glass, entry level, standard, and L's. I find EF-L lenses work so well on my R5&6, I see no reason to buy the RF equivalent. I'm thinking you'll fall in love with the RF100-400 as most of the Pro's I know have. It's a joy to carry something so lightweight that produces great images. Throw on the 1.4 extender when you need added reach. I find I'm leaving the big heavies home more and more.

    • @JonnyPink65

      I have been shooting it for two days straight. on a R50 and I am loving it. I am going to put it on the R7 and the R3 - fun fun fun. I agree on older L glass. The one I like for video 17-40 F4 is AMAZING. My 70--200 F2.8 and my 600 F4 III are also still simply phenomenal. This old 70-300 is just not a great lens. Oh, and one lens I actually prefer over the RF version is my L 100mm F2.8 macro lens. I think the EF version is superior. Hay man, if it works, keep shooting it. 🙏💖🤗

      Chris...... I have been shooting the R50 and RF 100-400 for the last two days - it is an awesome set up. I want to put this 100-400 on the R7 and the R3 Such a fun little lens. I am going to try the R50 for video. I will say that changing settings on the R7 is much easier. Entry level cameras are actually much harder to use in my opinion. Fun combo 🙏💖🤗

      @@Chrispitchwildlife I was shooting both the RF 100-400 and the RF 100-500 on the R50 this morning. The RF 100-500 is just an amazing lens and it works so well on the R50, R7, R3 etc. The 100-400 probably does too (I shot some with that on the R7 too). I don't know what happened with that R7 photos I have similar zoom but for sony and was using it on old A7, was nowhere near as bad, and everyone knows just how bad original A7 focusing was, so I really wonder what happened here xD
    But yea better gear will help you capture more better photos, though I pity everybody that comes home from a stroll with thousands of photos to choose from because always shoots at 30fps xD

    • @JonnyPink65
      @JonnyPink65  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I shoot in short bursts LOL. I still come home with a thousand photos and narrow it down, then narrow it down again. If they are all bad, I dump everything and using as a learning moment. 🙏💖🤗

    • @Deruzejaku
      @Deruzejaku 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JonnyPink65 I do use small bursts at times too, but mostly I stick to single frame and try to time the shot just right, but it's just my way of doing things. It's largely ego in my case cause I would see it as being lucky when reviewing photos instead of consciously observing what's happening and picking the exact time to shoot, but I gota say it will result in a few photos and still most of them shit anyway xD
      But if you're having fun shooting the way you do then all is fine in my books, after all, everything that maters to the viewer is final photo, all the rest is our ego, and ambitions xD

      @@Deruzejaku If you are able to get that perfect shot with a single pull of the trigger - I bow down to you. When pre-capture came out, when shooting 12 FPS, 20 FPS came out, I thought of it as a gimmick and poo poo'd it. until using it. For me, bursts work and I pick the one with the most character. We all have a style that works for us and as long as we have fun - that is all that matters. 🙏🤗💖

    • @JonnyPink65
      @JonnyPink65  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NikCan66 I would not say useless. I just think they need to bring the shutter speed down a bit to compensate. On my D800 in really low light situations, I would use the exposure compensation and push it UP to give me a little more so I could keep my shutter speed up a bit. I hated shooting past and ISO of 400.
