Good start to the project. Curious to see its capabilities.

I may have messed up the linkage to tar1090 and the other api, will have to check next go. I was running out of time.

Can you use any signal as a reference or only digital TV signals? I know most passive radar systems use digital TV signals. My guess is due to they are the most ubiquitous, and they propagate well. What antennas did you use?

A few notes I was provided from this first attempt.
      - no orange dots/detections due to way oversampling with the 2Mhz wide sample rate against the FM tower (better to have just found a Tv tower)
      - added the http to the ADS-B URL when it was already handled by blah2
The developer is going to test lower sampling rates so maybe something like wn FM tower could be used. For this video I used two directional antennas, which even the antennas were rated for higher than the frequency range I had available. It was a good practice run at least.

With passive radar, would a phased array of antennae help with resolution? I have a beam forming eval board and software from ADI that I’ve been wanting to try out. It’s for a satellite downlink project I’ve been putting together but I’m dying to try it out. Problem is the frequency range of my board might be to high. Anyway…. Cool video, and very informative. Thanks.
Also, do you expect to have more WarDragons in stock soon? It’s a killer looking setup and I want one. With tax refund around the corner, I will definitely be treating myself. That’ll be 1of 2 SDR gifts to myself. The second is an 8’ satellite dish…. Not even kidding! My wife will probably have an aneurism when she sees that in the back yard ( maybe I’ll hide it on my roof. Lol!)

You know what, you motivated me even more to use my refund to get a bulk order in! Haha give me like a week. I’m going to sit down and hammer out the details tonight. Only thing though, it typically comes with the Airspy r2. The duo would probably need to be separate. I’m a little paranoid about having the kit out of the box capable of doing the passive radar since I recall that being an issue for the KrakenSDR people. I figure if someone gets the kit they just optionally get antennas/duo. I’m not for sure, but I think just directional antennas would be best.

A couple questions if you don’t mind. First, have you heard of Redhawk? It’s SDR software similar to GNU Radio. Though I’m still learning SDR, it’s been the easiest thing I’ve found to jump in and actually get things to work. I constantly struggle with gnu radio and Pothos.
My other question is regarding GPU’s. Specifically, cloud based GPU’s. Is it possible to SDR hardware to an application running in the cloud, for example if SDR++ was cloud based, could all that processing power be beneficial or would the hardware be to far removed from the software??

I have, did a video on it, but if it’s the same RedHawk I’m thinking of it was super confusing and all kinds of a pain to setup. I would’ve thought gnuradio would be easier to use?
The issue with cloud based is that would be a crap ton of bandwidth to get anything usable from the radio in terms of sample rate and bandwidth. It’s best to get the SDR and compute locally.

hello 👋 VOR ,TV, FM which one is the best for this ? in terms of range and performance?

I haven’t had a chance to experiment a lot yet. If you jump in the blah2 discord the others can give some good advice. I’m going to try a wide tv channel, maybe digital here soon. I did fm which wasn’t really a good one since the settings of blah2 by default are expecting a wider channel.

How long before the Kits on your website are back in stock?

I was just messing around with the site now trying to account for the additional wiring parts, hdmi dummy plug etc but not raise the cost too much. I’ve got 4 just about built but two already accounted for. Give me about a week, week and a half. I’m going to just buy a bunch of stock and hope they sell. I can set one of the remaining two aside for you though in the meantime.

I just tried to run osmo-nitb-scripts using a uhd device (205-mini), and before starting the main scripts, in another terminal i typed (as you showed in your video the ability to use a uhd a long with limeSDR ), i got this message " osmo-trx.cpp:264 Cmd line option 'f' is deprecated and will be soon removed. Please use VTY cfg option instead. All cmd line options are already being overridden by VTY options if set." This is what i tried to explain in my previous long comment.

If you are using the latest DragonOS FocalX you open one terminal window and navigate to /usr/src/osmo-nitb-scripts and run sudo ./main_uhd.py
      In another window you run
      sudo omso-trx-uhd -C /etc/osmocom/osmo-trx-uhd.cfg
Wait about 30-45 seconds and observe transceiver start.

It’s a capital C. If you type -c you will see the error you’re experiencing.

Dear Sir. Currently i am using your latest release of DragonOS Focal. And some times when i am trying to run some of the Apps in DragonOS (which were working fine in older versions), i get a new message, which is new to me (i started using Linux when i found by accident your wonderfully created OS which is comparable with most known SDRs, everything is configured in an excellent way. I dont have to worry about drivers , configurations and other cumbersome, at least to me, when using my different SDRs. In short I am new to linux, but thanks to your videos i learned tons of Linux scripts). Back to the issue that i face sometimes in some Apps like OptenBTS, osmo-nitb, some others, it gives me an error message saying that what i am using is deprecated and i should shift or use VTY, and something like that. I am shy to say, that i even dont know what VTY is, and how should use the deprecated scripts using VTY. I hope that you understood my issue with my poor English! is it a new kind of terminal or new changed scripts (newer scripts)? i really have no Idea on how to deal with this issue. With almost every video that you uploaded to utube, i managed in most times to replicate what you did successfuuly, which feels really great for me. However, the VTY and deprecated Apss, terminal, or scripts, I cannot enjoy the same Apps that i used to use in older version. I am really sorry sir for my long message, and i would highly appreciate your help.

Thank you for the kind feedback and words. See my other response and I think you’ll be back up and going with the programs. In the case of osmo nitb scripts I suspect you are putting a lower case c.
