Learning “Depth of Field” was a lot easier in film SLR Cameras when we could adjust the Aperture Manually. Basically “Depth of Field” allows you to determine what will be In Focus before & behind your Focus Point. The smaller the Aperture e.g F16 was the Infinity setting. When you opened up the Aperture to say F1.4 then what was behind your Focus Point was “Out of Focus” and appeared blurred.
Now we have to manage that Digitally and is for some a harder learning curve.
The important thing is to use your Camera and Experiment with the settings It May take a little time but once you understand a whole new world opens up. Enjoy yourself. The big advantage of Digital Photography is that you get Instant Feedback. No more developing film and printing. The results are instant. Have fun, Photography is a wonderful thing. You capture a moment in time forever

Really enjoyed this video! You shoot in the most beautiful locations! The new camera settings are so useful - especially the exposure feature. I personally don't like taking photos with a filter enabled either, but it's great that you have the option to revert to the original if you do have one selected!

This was very helpful. 🙏🏾 thank you.
I’m an artist and would like to use my phone to take reference photos. But it never seems like the photo looks the same as what I’m looking at. The value contrast and color saturation always seems exaggerated. Am I right to say that messing with the exposure will fix this issue that the camera does automatically?
And is there a way to turn off the the low light feature, so I can capture accurately the scene in a low light setting without the app amplifying the light? This would be so helpful. I want to figure these things out before deciding to pay for a different app or purchase a dslr camera

    • @iPhone_Photography_School

    • @KurtBaumanMobilePhotography

There is no quality effected, as long as the phone camera lens is not too close to the phone tripod holder that the holder gets in the view of the camera.

    • @iPhone_Photography_School

4:3 is the best to use, as you're actually capturing less when shooting 16:9. That being said, the iPhone allows you to switch back to 4:3 even if you shot the photo as 16:9. :)

I stopped buying a new phone every year.
I Am a professional bladesmith and my photography is terrible. You can imagine what frustration that causes, do jewelry from scrap pieces also.
Using an 10XR, bought a lightbox, pictures still look horrible. Even bought a tripod and a camera shutter remote.
