Korone: I turn the valve. GM: It doesn't budge. Korone: I'm rolling a strength check GM: No, you can't turn the valve. Korone: I try in the other direction
I'm more surprised she even knows some months in english. They just call months in Japan 1st month, 2nd month, and so on. (ichi-gatsu, ni-gatsu, san-gatsu, etc)
@0b5qRa our months were originally that way too. October was the 8th month and December was the 10th. Then some stuff happened I guess. Also we stopped speaking latin.
@@Jordan-Ramses I felt like reading about this after seeing this comment thread and apparently the first four months of the roman ten-month calendar were named after gods, and the next six were named like "fifth month, sixth month" and so on. Then Julius Caesar decided to rename the fifth month (formerly quintillis) after himself, then Augustus Caesar decided to name the sixth month (sextillis) after himself too. So now it's only the last four months of the year that are still named like that, and because January and February got shoved in at the start of the year the placements of the "seventh-tenth months" are all out of allignment. Thankfully this will only bother us tedious nerds who like to bore people with latin trivia.
@@0b5qRa But then again, it's like one of the first things commonly taught, probably because it's something easily connected to the daily life (or should I say monthly... Okay, okay, I'll stop now), always comes in a fixed sequence (similar to the alphabet, though singing names of the months would be more awkward) and is one of the most common things English that you'd encounter (right behind the days of the week and maybe stuff like "net weight")
Poor Korone has trouble with English phrases like that, I've noticed. She seems to understand "turn valve" but not "cannot". Much like when she was trying to do the card swiping task in Among Us and understood the "slow" in "too slow", but not "too", so she kept trying to do it slower. xD
Basically perfect collab material. We all remember the Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes stream, about time for another setup with a very JP capable EN member.
Korone continues to recite the months after march but completely forgetting May is cuter and funnier than i thought it was gonna be😂 I hope she never stops trying to speak whatever English she reads or hears cuz its just too cute
she needs encouragement like that :( i feel like she stopped doing english streams because she felt shy or something. i mean i know we're not her target audience but i miss those streams
I have noticed that the Japanese accent sounds cute when they try to speak English. And I bet for damn sure that if I tried to speak Japanese, I would most like butcher the hell out of it while trying to say "hello, how are you today" only for them to hear gibberish and a few words to tick them off.
Japanese people have a much harder time pronouncing English than the other way around. English has way more different sounds than Japanese does. Where English speakers tend to struggle with Japanese is in the stress timing of the language but the English language contains almost all Japanese vowels and consonants.
@@404Dannyboy Native English speakers can't pronounce Japanese vowels to save their life though. They always end up either mixing two of them together (as in, ka = kai, ke = kei, ku = kuo, etc.), or needlessly elongating them. People with phonetic languages like Spanish have a way, WAY easier time, since their vowels and overall pronunciation are pretty close to Japanese. The reverse also applies. For Japanese people, Spanish pronunciation seems easy in comparison to English. The few times hololivers have read a thing or two in Spanish, they lowkey sound ridiculously close to how it's actually pronounced, and that's with none or next to no practice or experience in the language.
@@m8onethousand I haven't heard native English speakers combine vowels after even just a day or two of Japanese lessons. Getting the vowel quality wrong is usually a result of total unfamiliarity with Japanese rather than a problem with their ability to pronounce the word. One of the very few Japanese vowels English speakers actually do have trouble with in Japanese is the umlaut u sound but for virtually ever Japanese phoneme there exists an English version. The vowel length problem you mention is the stress problem I pointed out. That is where an English accent really comes out in Japanese. Of course Japanese people have an easier time with Spanish. Spanish has half the vowel phonemes of English and has a phonemic range much closer to that of Japanese.
@@404Dannyboy Mind you, English has stress accent and stress timing. Japanese has Pitch accent and Syllable timing (well, more like mora timing, which isn't Quite the same thing, but it's closely related).

Korone and her randomness man. I tuned in her stream just as she was trying to turn that valve and I was so confused lmao.
she was walking back with the click, trying to pull it. she knew pull, but not "cannot" maybe reading it as Can**** Pull
Her random conveyor belt brain is what makes us attached to her the most lmao.
I think she understood “pull” but not the other words, so she was trying to pull on it.
Gently caress the ring
She can't pull the valve... so she tried to turn it instead.
