In this episode we take the Traxxas Stampede 4x4 VXL and match it against the Vaterra Halix 4x4 MT. Although the Stampede is now running a Hobbywing system, these trucks continue to be pretty well matched. The race is cut a little short due to some inconsiderate people who decided that the MUST use the small section of the BMX track at the same time as us,so I'm sure these two rivals will meet again in the future.

Stampede had great kick with that hobbywing system in there and on 2s.....seems nice tho spins the wheels on start...but it seems to have made the Stampede even more fun! Great one Vas

You should race a couple scts. Maybe the pro2 and a 2wd slash???
Might want to try running the same tires or racing tires on them. At least something with decent lateral grip.
Oh never mind. I just watched your CVD/hobbywing combo video for the stampede. I have the new VXL system that has the capacitors but even so I mounted a fan on the ESC and motor and also a Bastens heatsink on the motor. It works rather well at keeping temps down when running 3s and 15/54 gearing on the 3.92 internal ratio.
Yahhhhh the Halix wins!!! Great race war! I didn't notice if you said the Halix had AVC on or not. Either way this shows the difference between the 2 trucks. I think the Rival shocks were good luck for it! Lol. It shows that in some small way the rival just has the upper hand! Great video Vas!!

Yeah he didnt say if the AVC was on or off, but looking at how he lost control of it on the second race I would assume it was turned off, which is a shame since its a function you get when you buy the truck so in my opinion it should of been turned on. In the other hand it would be a bit unfair vs the Stampede I guess.

You seemed to have better control and acceleration with the stampede. I'm wondering if the control was from the choice of tire (sort of seemed like it) but the power system seemed better on the stampede. I'm running a 120A Turnigy Trackstar sensored w/7.5T on a B4.2 and it's completely gonzo insane. Looking into monster trucks now - think I'll use the same ESC on one with a higher turn motor.
I love that track u guys are on!!!😃😃 I would love to get down on it it with my bullet!!! As for the two trucks in the vid the only difference the me seems to be the drivers.
Hey Vas. A little selfish request on my part but we would really like to see you utilize more of that bike track. I wish I can run my trucks on a bike track. They don't allow us to run on the track where I'm from

Why did you change to the quicrun system on the stampede? Was it originally the XL-5 like mine? I upgraded the Titan to a Velineon system. I had a Reaktor 3215 2pole system on it before but my setup is better now
the Traxxas vxl system is an overpriced pile of junk that's why it runs hobby wing even tho I prefer castle over my old vxl

if the stampede has vxl were the hell is it. what happen to the vxl brushless from the stampede if you have the vxl version lol
The VXL was taken out due to overheating issues and not being a very fast system. This is an older version Stampede before they updated the motor & ESC, so the VXL system had to go.

What should I do, I'm thinking about converting my slash to a stampede but I'm not positive yet.
The Slash uses a bigger chassis, so it'll be an expensive exercise if you want to do that. Unless you keep the Slash chassis and turn it into a StampedeXL? If you do that you'll only need to get some 2.8" tires and a body that fits and you're good to go. They're both fun to drive, but I prefer the Slash personally.
I myself have a stampede 4x4 and it is a lot of fun but the slash is a smooth dirt road car and the stampede is an off road
