Cow Lost Calf at Birth, So I Drove 9 Hours to Adopt

- Our Family Cow gave birth to a stillborn, then took interested in our dog (thinking it might be her calf) so we racked our brain and actually found a suitable baby calf 4.5 hours away. We drop everything and hit the road in hopes our cow will adopt this calf.

With horses they also rub poop from the ''mother'' on the foal to make it smell like the ''mother''. Might be an idea to use with cows
It's so nice you could give Flossie a baby! It's a bad scenarios made really good and wholesome, it's not Flossies fault her baby died so this is really good :) It's made me very happy haha!

Flossy is amazing. I'm thankful she made it through everything. You guys are amazing and so are your children. I wish I would have raised my kids like that - they are some pretty amazing kids. I'm very happy that ya'll are going to try and get Flossy a new adopted baby. You should name this baby "miracle" stay safe, stay true, stay you.
It might take time as i work on a farm in Scotland uk and we did the same as what u did and it works it will take we bit of time cause it’s not her own baby
glad you found a calf. genetics and disease control are paramount. this is not dairy or beef-based. so finding herd that you want a calf from. I am fortunate that my cousin is 12 mi away. we both practice...if they step off the trailer they never come back. You're fortunate that dairy calves are easier to bottle feed and foster. the rarest, I had a cow who lost her calf 30 days before, and just wanted to try to introduce them as companions...she came back into milk...and that was her calf...one spoiled calf, he still wanted his bottle.

She's being milked everyday. She's at a dairy. Cows don't have emotions like you may be thinking.

Flossy seemed to be horning and kicking her away. Did the calf give up trying? This was a very hopeful but scary video. I hope she accepts her eventually. Is it better now?

it sucks when you loose calves, but we both know it is going to happen anyway.
If the cow won’t except the adopted calf then you can take the hide of the dead calf and tie it on to the adopted calf
We skin our dead calves and put the hide on the foster calf. And FRIST!!!!!!!

No, Flossie's not happy. She's rejecting this calf. That said, another cow isn't sad. You see, animals emotions aren't the same as humans. Not nearly. We're increasing the productivity of our homestead. The calf was up for sale as her mama is at a very nice dairy and will be milked everyday.
