  • This iconic song is SO beautiful when played on the cello!!! Embrace the “one bow to a measure” bowing and notice the different rhythmic patterns throughout. One of the challenges of this song is that when you MISS the C natural and play C sharp, it actually sounds right, since you may have heard it with a happy sound instead of the minor sound we are doing. So if you need to write in all the 2nd fingers so that you play them consistently, do it! Better to be sure! Remember, when you’re counting dotted quarter noes, you go to the NEXT number on the dot. In these measures, you will count “one and two” on the dotted quarter, followed by the “and” on the flagged eighth note. Have fun playing this gorgeous piece!!!
