A funny way for remembering the similar letters 「シ」 & 「ツ」 that stuck with me is to imagine シ looking up ツ’s skirt and saying “*she* has nice legs”, alerting ツ who looks down and goes “tsu!” (scoffing or spitting at him). That way, you can always remember that シ looks up while ツ looks down in a mildly perverse way, probably not something you’ll learn in class lol

I misunderstood the Chinese charter for Katakana ヒ . It is 此 , not 化. However, considering Asian Brush Pen Writing ( 毛筆書道), the first stroke ( ヒの第一画)should be written from right to left (右から左へ) . But , it is said that many Japanese write the first stroke ( 一 )of ヒ from left to right ( 左から右へ ) when they use pencils, ball point pens and dip pens ( 所謂 硬筆).

Very cool lesson, I found a widget to avoid forguet them, the hiragana is a bit easy but katakana is so similar , wa, u, ke, so I downloaded Hirakata widget, is very helpful, thanks!

change the にほん to 日本 (just saying
こんにちわ should be こんにちは with ha "は" this goes aswell with "today" = "きょうは" or "kyou wa" you read it as "wa" but written with "ha" hope this helps.
