Great overview! As a Slave to Darkness myself I'm stoked with our new rules. I am a Cabalist player so sad to see that subfaction go but it would probably have been OP for 4.0 in it's current form. It's cool that the unique Undivided heroes can benefit from Eye of the Gods as in 3rd they basically couldn't interact with the core faction mechanic at all. The EotG table looks really strong, perhaps there should be a harsher penalty than d3 damage for landing a 1 on the reroll. Hoping that our Beasts/Monsters have cool abilites to make them worth playing for once and that we get other ways to get to roll on the Eye table like spells and enhancements.
Super excited for this army! A friend has quit AoS to concentrate on the Old World, and had given me a load of stuff for AoS, including his Slaves to Darkness army. I can't wait to field loads of Knights and Varanguard, charging across the battlefield, looking like some sort of crazy power metal band from the 80s, eager to smash the enemy into utter ruin! 💪🏼😅
What makes the Daemonic speed even more insane is the fact it can now be cast on any StD unit and not just mounted units like the current version. Might actually make theradons viable as the biggest problem I've had with them is getting them into combat before being deleted by range units. Chosen with a 3D6 charge also sounds like a terrifying prospect...
I started collecting Slaves to Darkness about a few months before they anounced the fourth edition, when I just entered AoS. I find the lore and the models so FREAKING cool that I couldn´t care less if the rules sucked. But this faction focus makes my shrivelled little black heart almost beat faster with happines!

Just recently came to AoS from 40K about three weeks ago. I picked up the old start collecting box and the Eternus Battleforce box. I play CSM, so the logical choice was to pick Slaves. It's exciting to see that they're looking to be a fun army!
If I were to pickup AoS, this is the faction I would take. Mostly for Darkoath. Great points and discussions here Rob - you are making it accessible and welcoming as always.
After the soulblight preview, I know some vamp players who were really disappointed/underwhelmed by blood knights, and I spent a fair bit of time trying to convince them that, no, they were ok, you had to judge them in context of 4e (less save stacking), etc. Then the StD preview comes out and chaos knights are just flat out amazing, and now even I am finding blood knights underwhelming by comparison.
I was also fairly positive about blood knights until the STD preview. It’ll depend somewhat on whether there are any available buffs for blood knights, but as it stands with the extra wound and mark of khorn, chaos knights are just flat out better and blood knights feel very meh by comparison. Sad.
@@steampunkjim You're exaggerating. Lost the champions other weapon which made it more reliable in noncharge combat So you can see it's not so cut and dry.
