  • Denmark's oldest supermarket Irma is closing down after it first opened its doors in 1886, which makes Copenhageners and Japanese tourists heartbroken.
Irma was an upscale supermarket with high-quality organic foods, a big variety of vegan produce, a cult favourite blue coffee label and a widely recognized mascot: Irma pigen - aka the Irma girl. The Irma girl character is not just loved by the people of Copenhagen, but it also built up a small following with visitors from Japan as well.
The store has followers and a cultural significance that makes its closure a big loss for Copenhageneres with losing Europe's second oldest supermarket.

Yeah it’s very sad. It is one of my To-do/ To-go list when traveling to Denmark.

Oy, I did not know that. Now I also think it is a shame to close Irmas.

So what do you think, are you sad to see Irma gone?
