- The Notification for the Territorial Army is out for 2019. This is the first time women can also apply for TA. It is a golden opportunity for all those who wanted to join the Army but could not do so due to some reason.

The English raised the Territorial Army in 1920 through Indian Territorial Act of 1920 and it was comprised of two wings namely - ‘The Auxiliary Force’ for Europeans & Anglo-Indians, and ‘The Indian Territorial Force’ for Indian Volunteers. After Independence, the Territorial Army Act was passed in 1948 and the first Indian Governor General Shri C Rajagopalachari formally inaugurated the Territorial Army. It is celebrated with the TA Day Parade every year.
Major General VPS Bhakuni, VSM, was commissioned into the Dogra Regiment in 1981. He has rendered distinguished service of 37 years in the Armed Forces. The General Officer has participated in various operations including Counter Insurgency operations viz., Operation Pawan (Sri Lanka-IPKF), Operation Rakshak and Operation Parakram in Jammu & Kashmir. The General Officer has performed the duties of Colonel General Staff (Operations) of a Corps in Western Theatre and MGGS (Info Sys) and Chief of Staff of prestigious 15 Corps in Srinagar when Kashmir was under floods in Sep 2015. The General Officer assumed the responsibility of Commandant, Selection Centre South in Jan 2016 which is tasked to select officers for Army, Navy and Air Force till his retirement in June 2018.

Gainfully employed basically means that you must be in some kind of a job or business where you are earning enough to sustain your livelihood. It can even mean that you are a farmer who earns enough to sustain his lifestyle.

In TA online form in the column there's written : Have you ever served in the army air force navy ncc or Ta..
I wrote yes and tick mark NCC..

Personnel working in law and enforcement agency cannot join the Territorial army. You can download territorial army pdf from their website and check abouy yhe eligibility .

No... But with a NCC you have sperate entry as well for permanent commission

Hi sir, I am interested to write the exam of TA officer, however I need more information related to the condition of 'Gainfully employed'. Do I need to produce a NOC from my private employer ? What if the employer denies to give any such document?
Also would like to know what if I would want to change my primary job in future post joining TA? Do I need to inform my new company about my TA committment? Do I again need to submit a fresh nOC from the new company?
