I'm so surprised that this video doesn't have more views, this is a great story! I was only a baby when Sal was murdered he's one of my all time favorite old Hollywood actors. What an incredible interaction you had , you're lucky!

Its so awesome hearing people with these stories. It was such simpler times where you could meet all the starts personally. I wish I could have been born then to experience those days

Thank you so much for sharing that story about Sal, Brian...I was only in the eighth grade when Sal died, but, I definitely knew his name, probably from "Who Killed Teddy Bear?" which I saw an ad for. LOL When I was sixteen, I watched "Rebel Without a Cause" on the late show in 1978 with some family members...I was trying to deal with my own feelings at the time, but, without much luck...Anyway, when Plato says to Jimmy, "Do you want to come over to my house? No one is home..." That line hit me me, like, 'Woah!!!' My sister said, "I think he's gay..." Right on, sis...He still needs a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame...C'mon , already!!! Peace and Love

Your post resonates with me , I loved Rebel without a cause from the first time I saw it when I was aged 15. Only much later in life did I appreciate the the tension and complexed relationship between the characters Jim and Plato. However it's crystal clear now. Especially now I understand my situation.

What a wonderful story! Sal was stunning and you were so lucky to actually meet him, I knew nothing about Sal until I saw an Instagram post about him last week and then I explored and found out all about him, James Dean, his movies and terrible end, everything I have read says he was lovely and kind. Thank you

Certainly appreciate your time to share w/ us. Remarkable story/storyteller; you must be a writer. Terribly tragic to lose so many tremendous actors so damn early of that film. I'm about to click your name in hopes of more wonderful stories! Smashing the subscribe button now! Paul.

This was an excellent story. So very interesting about your meeting with such a great and famous actor such was Sal Mineo. What I can't understand why you only have 16,000 views. I have some shitty videos from 2017 that have more views than that and the only famous gay that I ever met was Tiny Tim!!!....jajaja. I found your video easy enough, but what I think it is, is that most young people today have no idea who Sal Mineo is ( or was) and his great importance and valor in not only being a superb actor, but being probably one of the first openly gay actors in the world, and an absolutely gorgeous one at that!

I was in Istanbul, Turkey, back in the summer of 1975 and looking through a magazine rack at Turkish movie star magazines. I couldn't get over the fact that many had covers and big articles about Sal Mineo??? I asked the concierge back at my hotel about this and told me it was because Mineo looked like he could be Turkish. Apparently, the other American stars looked too western. I had an occasion to return to Istanbul a year later, just after Mineo had been murdered. There were any number of magazines running big memorial issues about his death. I've always wondered if Mineo was aware that he was extremely popular in the Middle East?

He was in Exodus. That wouldnt hurt 'Middle East Popularity'.

All the stars of “Rebel Without a Cause” died young and very tragically. Sal Mineo was stabbed outside his apartment in a botched robbery. His killer had no idea who he was and struck at random. He died on the sidewalk from his wounds.

Sal was so brilliant, with so so much left to do. I do hope that Tom made it through the disaster soon to hit the gay community and is as well as you look in this video! Peace and love from Wales.

First to go was James Dean in 1955, in a head on traffic accident, then almost 20 yrs later, Sal Mineo stabbed to death in a robbery attempt. Finally Natalie Wood died 5 yrs later in 1981. She drowned off the coast of Catalina Island....a sad ending to all three actors!!!
