When linking CAD Files, you don't have to delete the Layers. You can use Visibility/ Graphics Overrides, look at Imported Categories, and turn those layers off. This would be View Specific, but it enables you to preserve the layers.
Thanks for clearing up Room Bounding, and Copy/ Monitor. This has caused some confusion in our group for quite some time. Great Job, again.

As an electrical modeler I always use the option "origin the origin" when linking files. And I never move linked objects.
Otherwise It gives problems with coordination between different models from others contractors. For example an architect who links my file in his/her model to look for collisions between walls, cableducts and plumbing.
When I start a new project I first link the architectural model and then place the electrical components.

If you have a big size model we found out that the best option is to make new model name CAD and there link all the CAD files (architectures, electro, hvac...) and then you link Revit CAD model in BAU model or TGA model.

    Great content!
Could you cower sometime a topic "Digital twin" in Revit? Especiallly integration of IoT and BIM360 viewer for the Facility management. Maybe also how would you approach making BIM from CAD drawings (for the old buildings)?
    Pozdrav

    Good afternoon sir.
Do you have any recommendations for using and sharing Revit models on a cloud based software system?
    Kind regards..

Good day sir, I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into making these help videos. You mentioned around 13:00 Revit Links in VG override "if you have it" of course I don't have it so how do I get the Revit Links to show up in VG links?

Hi, what if the link is not visible when you bring it in to one's model? I'm assuming it's a Visibility graphics issue. Trying to figure that out.

HI Balkan Architect........i have an issue with linking DWG into Revit. There seem to be an issue with the line graphics of the DWG in revit not being straight and skewed. Are you able to provide some tips on how to rectify this issue or point me to a video you may have done already to cover this subject matter ?

What do you think about the ghost CAD link method?
Like link all your DWG in a blank RVT file and then link this to your project and then use link by view.
Some say this makes your model much lighter and also keeps DWG more organised.

Yep in the real world on big jobs we usually do it this way. It's great because you can use linked views to show plans CAD plans exactly as you want with no view range issues, and it keeps all the mess out of the working models. The workflow shown in this video is really moreso for small/student projects.

@@AussieBIMGuru Can you show the workflow for the professional/real world as well please?
Of course there are some cons, like you can't pick lines and see in which layer they are as with the normal CAD link, but i tried it once and it makes some sense in huge projects, where you can lose track on latest DWG etc.

Can you make a video for efficiencies on linked revit models with AutoCAD files? I also use filters in my templates. I am trying to find efficiencies, but new to templates. I am looking for efficiencies on making multiple views of different disciplines. Example is make electrical view with template. And then create a duplicate of that view, and apply a new template for mechanical. Keep in mind that the view may change what shows based on the 2 different view template settings (things may change what shows from the revit and imported CAD file). I am an MEP drafter that sets up our revit projects using the Architectural model. Thanks in advance.

There are still some bugs/problems when using Revit-Link...
    1. Bottom elevation of linked floor cannot be shown properly ESPECIALLY two or more floors are lapping
    2. The schedule of linked objects cannot get the room information since the objects and rooms are in separated files

    • @nicholastsagkos290
      @nicholastsagkos290 2 ปีที่แล้ว

about scheduling elements from linked rvt models there is an option, but it's complicated, i prefer scheduling elements in the model.
