Rat king seems like he would be a joke villain at first but then we slowly see him become more serious and he becomes the villain of this story. Or perhaps he will really be the real hero of this tale
honestly listening to this gives me an idea of a game where The Rat King being a villain at first, but after a confrontation with the hero, the hero actually chews out the rat king. Refusing to kill the Rat King but also refusing to let them go too. Telling it of their own trials and tribulations and that these problems and issues aren't restricted to humans or rats but by simply being intelligent. What makes them different is what they choose to do in spite of all their woes, the hero proving this by choosing to sacrifice themselves to save the rat king from death. After which the player controls The King from now on.
I imagine this song being the climax of a musical about a king who was banished and forced to live underground away from society, where he slowly turns into the king of the rats as he lives out the rest of his days in misery and regret
A rat king is the perfect villain for the Toy Story DND adventure I had in mind. This song makes the idea sound so epic when I hadn’t considered before. Thank you
“Scurrying within the walls. The rat king is not like any other stuffy. It has no fluffy exterior. Instead has crusty fur which is missing in patches around its face. The patches expose leathery material. Gashes found anywhere on its body expose a layer of red fibre and oozing crimson beneath the leather. It breathes out from a cavernous void from within its mouth. It wears a regal robe and crown. His sleeping servants, smaller rats, are tied closely to him.” In combat, the Rat king makes large sweeping attacks with the rats tied to its tail
My art teacher has a sign that says "Dont touch the art or the Rat King with eat you." Because people messed with the art and destroyed it. Its three headed also.

I just want to let you know that I have been listening to this song on repeat. I am running a horror campaign and while I wont say much, this FEELS so perfect for a villain I am building up. A headmaster who did so much to save the people around him. He was given god-like power in a hopeless situation, shifting into a monster of tissue, and tendons to act as strings in the realm he both calls his home and his body. In the brick, it pulsates and breathes shallow and slow, for he is the wall. He, himself, had been stretched through the entire school campus to become one with the school. He protects the school he loves and the students he cares deeply for but puppets them around against their will because he believes doing this, keeping them ignorant to the world around them, will keep them safe. I mean, he is the only one who knows what happened to the outside world and he is broken mentally- becoming a monster of true body horror. And while he develops a resentment towards those students and a superiority complex due to his knowledge and the power he was cursed with, at the end of the day, I plan for my players to kill him, finally releasing themselves from this prison realm that the headmaster kept them in. And while he is relieved to finally rid himself of the madness he has experienced through the years, he sobs, knowing that all of the people he had protected will be victim to what the outside world has become, and he dies with deep regret knowing that all the blood, all the murder, all the manipulation... it was all for nothing. All for nothing at all. He did not save the people he loved by just delayed the inevitable and hurt everyone around him while doing it. Anyways!!! Thank you so much!! You put a lot of love and effort into this song and it SHOWS!!!! It's truly amazing!! My jaw is on the floor!!
Dude that description is... insane. It truly is sounds so hauntingly beautiful. He tried so, so hard to protect all he loves, to the point he corrupted his mind, body, and soul into something truly horrendous. In desperate vain he lost sight of his true goal. What a tragic tale.
i've always loved the bridge of the mind electric and the "all mine towers crumble down" part, as well as the end of murders, so this song goes exceptionally hard
Finally got around to listening to this. The lyrics are metal asf Its got such a different vibe, and very well composed. I can only imagine soundtrap crying for help because it lags so bad for me. Lolll
please man keep making music like this, this just...drips of character. the cover too, the character design of the rat king is amazing, and the way you captured the tragedy of his existence. being the apex among his own kin, yet is seen as so far below everyone else, the envy he feels for those who live above him, the tragedy of not being accepted is one thats...oh so familiar, and is almost humanizing.
I am losing my mind, actually. Your voice is beautiful and you are hitting those power notes!! This was absolute amazing work and a wonderful transformation of the original song
i made like a whole google doc thats 1000+ words infodumping about this song only for my friend to say they didnt like it im gonna sob this song is amazing i genuinely do not understand how someone couldnt like this
For those of you who don’t know what actual rat kings are, they’re fascinating cases of groups of rats being stuck/fused together and forced to live as one. I love this, the insanity, the bitterness, it’s perfect
When I clicked on this I wasn’t expecting to be met with the most gorgeous voice I’ve ever heard omg- Also writing this as I’m listening and like, this is so fucking good I cannot express it into words, I’m honestly astonished because of the amount of sheer emotion I just feel is unreal with the singing
The idea of the Rat King is so unbelievably cool, to think his name comes from some grotesque rare natural phenomenon. Probably why the first lyric brings up his tail, the defining parts of a rat king
In the magic of this world (and likely by the fact TH-cam knows I love things about rats) I have found this song. And in the magic of this world, it somehow perfectly reflects a character I have. This song rocks, so much, I love this.
I love how the image and the whole many men thing is like ACTUAL rat kings, where a group of rats get their tails tangled together and end up not able to get undone, inevitably dying
The story you've painted with this song is incredible - the feeling that there's a whole world filled with deep and rich lore and characters is very real.
Something I love about the original song is that it's really easy to play out the scene in your head (even without having watched the animation), and what's crazy is that you managed to _keep_ that I can easily picture a scene as I listen Good shit man. :∆ Edit: due to comments I will now link the animation th-cam.com/video/uMkBuxEDkyg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VWBMS-5qpiu7yUlA Edit²: I will also link a non distorted version of the song th-cam.com/video/_nvPGRwNCm0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LLHMDzopEm5fADvO Cheers!
I’ve listened to a lot of mind electric covers before, but none have made me genuinely cry before. They lyrics vary just enough to be like listening to its story unfold right in front of my eyes(or ears) and that is something beautiful.
This is absolutely AMAZING! I would honestly say I like this just as much as the original, and this is the only thing that's ever come close to the magic of the original (which is, was? my favorite song ever), and even just saying, "the original" is weird, because this is its own thing, true art!
i was already excited by the fact that a rat king version of the mind electric popped up in my recommended AND THEN IT WAS SOMEHOW BETTER THAN I COULD HAVE POSSIBLY IMAGINED?? this is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. HOLY CRAP. your voice is so stunning, when the iconic mind electric melody kicked in my jaw hit the floor. AND MURDERS AT THE END. AAUGHH. i'm completely obsessed with this
Have you heard? About the god of vermin. A being so insignificant that only the lowest of creatures pray to it. The Rat King. Wearing the thrown away curtain of a noble and heads three and tired red eyes. This pitiful thing lives only in the sewers of the biggest cities, with tunnels that span out like a maze. This lord of apathy is made of the very vermin that worship it, all working together to become one being. It spends its time wallowing in the very filth it hates, longing to see any light. Sometimes, if you listen closely, you can hear its hopeless laughter as it scurries through the sewage. But have you heard? Rats, coming into homes, stealing not food, but trinkets. Even traps layed for them are either ignored or stolen. The Rat King is finally fed up, and it won't stop till it sees the sun. I wonder what a miserable thing like that can do when it finally decides to act? I wouldn't say it's pretty. Heh...
As soon as the piano kicked in, I got actual goosebumps. I was just looking for covers since I love this song so much, and I found something more poggers
I’m a musician, and when I say this is the most beautiful version of any song i’ve ever heard, I mean it. Your ambition and passionate singing make this a beautiful listen. On that note, I would like to hear your (if you even read this, that is) thoughts on an orchestral arrangement on it. I’m really inspired to try out a few different countermelodies and i feel like it could turn out somewhat well. This hypothetical orchestral arrangement having the same vocals, but likely a more varied backing choir, brass, strings and woodwind section. This being without monetary incentive, just a creator inspired by a creator (inspired by a creator).
This is probably like the best parody/mix of any Tally Hall media ever. I thought it would be a lyric change only and i was confused on how someone would dismantle a song like Mind Electric or all songs, but this is basically it's own thing. Genuinely such a beautiful parody, please do keep up the good work!
My setting has a country side ruled by different tribes of ratfolk, and this song struck me with the inspiration to call their grand council "the rat king" I am having trouble deciding as to whether or not to make it a real creature in the background though.
1: commenting for the algorithm, holy hell that song is perfectly evil/sad sounding 2: The Mind Electric is by Miracle Musical off of the album "Hawaii part II". I see how you could pull tally hall as the creators though, it does fit with their themes aswell
Okay, I'm going to be honest, I can't stress how much I love this song. Just so you know, also, I'm A Gm of campaign and I usually run very long campaigns and I've made a character that kind of uses your song as it's back story just because it's such a lovely tragedy. Because even though this uses the pacing of Mind Electric, it's such an original song that I just can't get enough of.

The lyrics are metal asf
Its got such a different vibe, and very well composed.
We need more songs about rat kings in the world, and this is a fantastic contribution.
I am losing my mind, actually. Your voice is beautiful and you are hitting those power notes!! This was absolute amazing work and a wonderful transformation of the original song
so, youre saying, that the rats; made you crazy?
@@grassman5579
CRAZY? I WAS CRAZY ONCE! THEY LOCKED ME IN A ROOM, A RUBBER ROOM, A RUBBER ROOM WITH RATS! AND RATS MAKE ME CRAZY!
i made like a whole google doc thats 1000+ words infodumping about this song only for my friend to say they didnt like it im gonna sob this song is amazing i genuinely do not understand how someone couldnt like this
Link for the doc?
this is the best remake/parody of the mind electric i have heared yet and one of the most originals too, keep going like that pal.
This is peak "Story from before I was born and when fiction wasnt real." vibes.
I discovered this in my recommended, holy shit. This is amazing.
For those of you who don’t know what actual rat kings are, they’re fascinating cases of groups of rats being stuck/fused together and forced to live as one. I love this, the insanity, the bitterness, it’s perfect
THIS IS SOME WALKING IN TH WALLS WITH BARE CLAWS BANGER. ( I live for this type of stuff)
This is lowkey awesome, this is not just a Parody, its a Masterpiece by itself
When I clicked on this I wasn’t expecting to be met with the most gorgeous voice I’ve ever heard omg-
Also writing this as I’m listening and like, this is so fucking good I cannot express it into words, I’m honestly astonished because of the amount of sheer emotion I just feel is unreal with the singing
This is such a great song! I hope Tally Hall gets to listen to how good this is.
This is some of the best music i have ever heard,
No joke.
the song opening with the rat king talking about his tail is a very neat detail considering what irl rat kings are
I can’t stop listening to this it’s gotten in my music section
The idea of the Rat King is so unbelievably cool, to think his name comes from some grotesque rare natural phenomenon. Probably why the first lyric brings up his tail, the defining parts of a rat king
IM FLIPPING OUT THIS IS LITERALLY EVERYTHING LIKE THE LYRICS AND THE SINGING AND THE VOICEEEE AAAA
I get chills every time I listen to do. Great song
In the magic of this world (and likely by the fact TH-cam knows I love things about rats) I have found this song. And in the magic of this world, it somehow perfectly reflects a character I have. This song rocks, so much, I love this.
Im- actually in shock… May this get the attention it deserves.
I was looking up the rat king boss from the last of us and I found this gem!
I hope you know that I'm now making a morally grey BBEG for my DnD campaign based off of this song now. I've never been so inspired!
This is much more than just a parody this is incredible!
this is awesome. I have been hating the fact that I was beginning to not like The Mind Electric of all kinds but this saved me
I love how the image and the whole many men thing is like ACTUAL rat kings, where a group of rats get their tails tangled together and end up not able to get undone, inevitably dying
He deserves some cheese for singing a song this good. It isn't even a parody at this point its just using the same beat.
The story you've painted with this song is incredible - the feeling that there's a whole world filled with deep and rich lore and characters is very real.
Something I love about the original song is that it's really easy to play out the scene in your head (even without having watched the animation), and what's crazy is that you managed to _keep_ that I can easily picture a scene as I listen
Good shit man. :∆
Edit: due to comments I will now link the animation

Same thought :D
I have been listening to this on repeat for days and it’s not even because I’m hopelessly obsessed with rats
good lord this gives The Nutcracker vibes so much. Lovely.
Love this. Same vibe as Over the Garden Wall soundtrack, it would fit right in.
3:29 IS SO GOOD. It just feels so cinematic. I feel like I’ve never heard a TME cover like this before. this is absolutely wonderful
I’ve listened to a lot of mind electric covers before, but none have made me genuinely cry before. They lyrics vary just enough to be like listening to its story unfold right in front of my eyes(or ears) and that is something beautiful.
Remy's villain song is fire
This is so beautiful in such a gloomy, and depressive way.
AAUGHH. i'm completely obsessed with this
playing a ratfolk in dnd currently, this is now the themesong for him
After checking out the original, this one is much better
We finna shine in the dark with this one🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Somehow misread the title as “THE RAT ELECTRIC”
The Mice Electric
Get this on streaming RIGHT NOW!!!
This being without monetary incentive, just a creator inspired by a creator (inspired by a creator).
it is criminal this isn't on spotify.
This is really good! Your voice has such great emotion and presence! Wishing it was on Spotify
This goes so hard!
So excited for the Spotify drop!
1: commenting for the algorithm, holy hell that song is perfectly evil/sad sounding
2: The Mind Electric is by Miracle Musical off of the album "Hawaii part II". I see how you could pull tally hall as the creators though, it does fit with their themes aswell
Miracle Musical is a project by Joe Hawley, a member of tally hall.

this makes me realize I need more rat songs in my life.
hell yeah nutcracker season time to listen to this on loop (i’m dancing as the rat king 😎)
literal goosebumps, this is beautiful and one of the most creative re-interpretation that i've heard!
oh my god. i found this by scrolling on youtube, this is absolutely amazing. this is addicting in a way./srs. your voice is heavenly.
You are an exceptional singer!

This song actually inspired a new really cool character idea for me, thank you for making this
this is a hauntingly beautiful piece and has caused me to subscribe, good work!
You calling this a parody is like Chong Jash calling his songs “covers”. This is really good
Okay, I'm going to be honest, I can't stress how much I love this song.
Just so you know, also, I'm A Gm of campaign and I usually run very long campaigns and I've made a character that kind of uses your song as it's back story just because it's such a lovely tragedy.
Because even though this uses the pacing of Mind Electric, it's such an original song that I just can't get enough of.
I would love to see kind of an album of the Rat King's story.
ALSO, congrats on 100k views :)
Shine on King.
I feel bad for not finding this sooner. It's not only a great cover, but one that tells its own remarkable story.
