I saw a Jaguar in 1982 while I was hunting rabbits at night with a spot light near the San Bernard River in Brazoria,Texas in a area of Brazoria called Wild Peach! I was only 13 years old but I remember it like it was yesterday! It was 40 years ago. It is a great memory. I feel lucky to have seen this Jaguar!🙏

Thank you, Mr. Dubois for a wonderful presentation about the history of the Jaguar in Texas. I live in Eastern N C. & have heard stories all my life about Mountain Lions & Black Panthers ( probably melanistic Jaguars or possibly Mountain Lions ) as well as hearing, myself, the scream of what could only have been a Mountain Lion in 1977 late one night while my best friend & I were stopped on a wooded dirt road in the adjoining county to ours. I have also listened to the stories of my grandmother & her brothers, my great-uncles, one of whom was an avid hunter, as well as recent stories about them from respected people who claim Mountain Lions or Jaguars are still around. Although Wildlife officials deny their existance, reports still circulate all over the South about sightings. I highly recommend the book "Shadow Cats" by Michael Mayes who presents a collection of sightings in the state of Texas. Although pictures of these beautiful cats who have been killed are very upsetting, such is history. I sincerely hope you will continue your research about the return of the Jaguar to the Southern U.S.

Great stream! This is a really interesting topic and I have been talking to my friends about it as well. We just need the info to spread and eventually there will be more awareness about all of this and hopefully serious reintroduction and conservation efforts in time.

I hate that they didn't have anything of a conservation mindset when so many wild cats were killed
