you realize benny only got his brown belt promotion in 2011. So no, he wasn't a brown belt for 10 years. he was for around 1.5-2 yrs at this point. He got his black belt promotion in June of 2012.
I went triple overtime in the finals with Beney as a purple belt, he has a badass guard and a very strong base. Good job Beney! And Congrats Kron! I got my $ on Beney next time!
thats cool, they do that in the Marines also when a good person is promoted but with the rank (Lance Corporal, Corporal, Sergent, ) patches on the uniform sleeve and ranks on the collar. Total respect.
I also didn't see the sweep at first. But a friend who is a referee made me see it! First Beneil sweeps kron. Now Kron is playing guard, when he stands on his feet grabbing Beneil's feet. This would be a simple sweep if Beneli didn't menage to stand and try to scape but Kron jumps to his back landing an crucifix. If Kron had his grip go or if Beneli didn't turn on his knees at the end it wouldn't have been a sweep after all! The sweep starts when Kron was playing guard and stands up. It just
While I'd agree that Caleb + Sean have room for improvement, I think they've done a great job. Remember that the broadcasts aren't organized by the tournament, and they had to commentate without the brackets, without access to the scoreboard, without even having access to the official time. You've also got to respect their knowledge of the sport, especially since you can't just Google the vast majority of these players. I'm sure they'll be as smooth as ESPN broadcasters in time.
I think that 6:10 while choking, Kron makes it to the top, you can see the ref's hand disappear, I'd guess he got 2 points for that as a sweep, and then won by his advantage at 4:20. Budovideos has really stepped up the quality with these broadcasts, I can't wait to see the Pans!
Around 5:20 they call it a sweep, but it was Kron rolling for an omoplata. Would that count against you, conceding position in an attempt for a sub? Definitely not a sweep in the sense that Kron initiated.
Its a sweep when he loses the omoplata. Its the same thing if you attempt to a leg lock when passing the guard and uke comes up and free his foot. If you know what i mean
I much prefer krons game to anyone else. No extreme flexibility or techniques that don't work outside of a dojo no upsidedowness. Just plain old effective BJJ just like Roger
@lukotettulukottaja That is one of the best refs in the business and I'm sure he has a MUCH better understanding of the rules than you do. What do you disagree with? Benny's 2 for the sweep? Or Kron's 2 for the takedown?
@subtlerhythm I'm pretty sure it was a takedown by Kron that started at ~5:30. Benny stands up and backs out. Kron jumps on him, takes him down but ends up in the crucifix with Benny ON TOP...no points. Later Benny turtles due to the choke attempt putting Kron on top, 2 points.
I think you have to have the hooks in for it to count as taking the back, or it has to be a reverse full mount, in which their stomach is flat on the ground and your on top.
True, that seems more likely. I think that 6:10 must have been when the ref scored the completion of the takedown, which would still count for 2 points, making the score tied but with an advantage in Kron's favor.
ends when Kron is on the top, by the back of Beneil for 3 seconds. Many referees wouldn't see that! So this guy is really good and you just said he needs to learn the rules. LOL! =]
+Wayne Campbell ,I can respect what you said;"winning on pts is lame". But tbh,Kron is the antithesis of a point fighter.Just my opinion but do you agree?
but still they should comment better... about present scores, advantages, and explain what are they doing. because if you are new one for grappling it doesn't seems attractive.
incativated I was philosophically opposed to points jiu jitsu, but after watching this points jiu jitsu seems really flawed. Kron was trying passing the gaurd the whole time, nearly choked him out, basically had his back twice but it didn't count because both hooks weren't in and he lost the fight. Wow.
Kron won, because he forced his opponent to his knees from the standing position. He almost took his back at first.. but the moment Benny went on his knees... it was 2 points. Reference: ibjjf.org. rule book.
I'm sorry but the whole making 1 of the guys wear that extra green and yellow belt is just stupid it gets in the way and of course it looks ugly as all hell lol you'd think they'd maybe do something else to tell the fighters apart and count points etc they could do the ankle band like wrestling or some sort of sash or wrist band anything but a second belt
y'all gone DIE Kron would kill him haha Benny is exploiting BJJ rules and butt scooting in an mma match he would be destroyed he isn’t a agressive BJJ fighter and you can’t be a defensive BJJ fighter in mma that’s why he got knocked out in like 13 seconds.
Best Jujutsu fight it's by submit... THATS IS THE REAL WORLD IN A REAL FIGHT... ON THIS FIGHT? NO BODY WIN!!! Be real, real fight it's by warrior way, no for a medal.
look at his brown belt .. its like 10 years old!!!.. so dont come with that stupid comment: his brown belt and just won over 3 black belts, becouse he IS a black belt. He doesnt have to wear a black belt to be a black belt?? come on man, use your brain folks!
I train with Benny at KINGS MMA and he is a Blackbelt now. He has great Muay Thai now to thanks to Master Rafael. Oss
these commentators are as knowledgeable as me when it comes to scoring a match.
but ben still deserves his black belt
he got in 2012 from romulo
Kron is great to watch! He is always pressing and going for the submission.
Aged like milk

Benny is my coach! When benny was promoted to brown belt his professor gave him his brown belt from when he was a brown belt. (sentimental value)
What? He gave him his brown belt when he was promoted to brown belt... from when he was a brown belt? Okay. Lay off that kush, son. You're losing it!
When Benny was promoted to brown belt, Benny's professor gave him his (the professor's) own brown belt from when he had been promoted.
thats cool, they do that in the Marines also when a good person is promoted but with the rank (Lance Corporal, Corporal, Sergent, ) patches on the uniform sleeve and ranks on the collar. Total respect.
Wow!!!! Benny is a Monster

"sorry chat room, sorry audience"
Great match! Ben that was beautiful fight. You will win next time.
You are one skilled individual, and I admire that.
sick quality
Venho do futuro pra dizer que: o Beneil Dariush se tornou um top contender do UFC.
hey
Dariush youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaare the best man
How do you expectec beneil to win doing absolutely nothing?, kron pushed the pace, tried to pass, got into submission attempts

If you know what i mean
not , its just an accidental shallow omoplata. i think he just rolling to avoid Ben taking his back
Cant wait to see the rematch
Dude...this is Rickson's son!
I much prefer krons game to anyone else. No extreme flexibility or techniques that don't work outside of a dojo no upsidedowness. Just plain old effective BJJ just like Roger
Yep!
I think everyone's still confused over how Kron won. WTF!!!
@lukotettulukottaja That is one of the best refs in the business and I'm sure he has a MUCH better understanding of the rules than you do. What do you disagree with? Benny's 2 for the sweep? Or Kron's 2 for the takedown?

Was Kron already a black belt when he fought Beneil?
Wow Beneil is so good
Did he get his brown belt after this match?
Great match.
I think you have to have the hooks in for it to count as taking the back, or it has to be a reverse full mount, in which their stomach is flat on the ground and your on top.
how tough is it to be ricksons son? kron is a true artist and warrior.
why does he have two belts?
those were the days
True, that seems more likely. I think that 6:10 must have been when the ref scored the completion of the takedown, which would still count for 2 points, making the score tied but with an advantage in Kron's favor.
I train with benny he is a world class jiu jitsu practitioner.
beneil is king
é um grande lutador , Equipe7 de Manaus .OSs
The one that was closer to a submission won the match.
wicked guard indeed
Great coverage, you guys rock
ends when Kron is on the top, by the back of Beneil for 3 seconds. Many referees wouldn't see that! So this guy is really good and you just said he needs to learn the rules. LOL! =]

How did Kron Win? I had him down 2:0
but still they should comment better... about present scores, advantages, and explain what are they doing. because if you are new one for grappling it doesn't seems attractive.
5:17 onwards was sick, maybe it was the pass at the start?
I thought maybe Kron got 2 for the takedown at 5:33 to tie it up 2-2 and then won by advantages.
Kron had the dominant position for most of the match outside of one nice sweep he controlled whole match
He got swept he actually lost 2 0
Lutou mto o atleta mas ñ entendo cm um graduado pode dar as costas assim 5:33....Sinceramente ñ entendo.
worst commentary ever
incativated I was philosophically opposed to points jiu jitsu, but after watching this points jiu jitsu seems really flawed. Eugene Song Not talking trash about Beneil, his guard was really hard to pass, and he did a great job of defending Kron's attacks but wow.
+Eugene Song kron won
+Eugene Song kron won the fight lmao
Kron won
Winning on points is LAME!
Announcers guessed wrong because they were busy kissing eachother, rather than watching the match.
The family name won that
i think kron got points for taking the back or maybe those crucifix positions he had him in
I thought it was obvious that kron win at the end simple sweep and back control I was thinking the commentators were bind
Jumping into guard = lamest technique in any martial art rivaling the deadly TKD front snap kick.
Kron won, because he forced his opponent to his knees from the standing position. He almost took his back at first.. but the moment Benny went on his knees... it was 2 points. Reference: ibjjf.org. rule book.
OMG... good eye!!!
That dude saw he got some points and tried to disengage to run... that's what's wrong with jiu-jitsu competition.
I'm sorry but the whole making 1 of the guys wear that extra green and yellow belt is just stupid it gets in the way and of course it looks ugly as all hell lol you'd think they'd maybe do something else to tell the fighters apart and count points etc they could do the ankle band like wrestling or some sort of sash or wrist band anything but a second belt
that brown could pass for a black belt
Wonder if we’ll see this match in the ufc now 🤣
Benny would kill kron! He has better striking and his mma bjj is rt there or better than Kron and I love him but against Benny would be a bad match up
y'all gone DIE Kron would kill him haha Benny is exploiting BJJ rules and butt scooting in an mma match he would be destroyed he isn’t a agressive BJJ fighter and you can’t be a defensive BJJ fighter in mma that’s why he got knocked out in like 13 seconds.
Evan Smith nah your opinion! Kron can’t throw a punch to save his life or a kick this isn’t bjj it’s Mma we’re talking here
y'all gone DIE you must have not seen his last match he is an offensive BJJ fighter and he got the back clinch and got the RNC.
Evan Smith yes but he will still stand in pocket and strike with the best and Kron can’t . Is what it is! Look at all his fights not just one!
no one forces you to watch these videos lol
@TheRiobezerko RICKSON GRACIE THE LEGEND!!!!!
That's why points make no sense when it comes to Jiu Jitsu.
points are there to show the importance of positions. position before submission.
yeah yeah
go kron
@jaj308 i think so 2
That was a sweep
Judge Sal D amato i guess
Wow.
5:31 Kron!!!
that was bs
Best Jujutsu fight it's by submit... THATS IS THE REAL WORLD IN A REAL FIGHT... ON THIS FIGHT? NO BODY WIN!!! Be real, real fight it's by warrior way, no for a medal.
Kron é MONSTRO
He lost he got swept that's corrupt af
Rematch
benny won
This is stupid! how can you be on top all match long, attempt sub and lost via a "sweep"?
Ben won
Beniel won that
Nice commentators! Way to misinform the audience.
Yes hes got a wicked guard..... awkward?
watch the sport instead... -.-
We know who really won this match, it’s not the first time this has happened.
Please explain
Beneil won this fight!
agree
Kron lost.
He did?
look at his brown belt .. its like 10 years old!!!.. so dont come with that stupid comment: his brown belt and just won over 3 black belts, becouse he IS a black belt. He doesnt have to wear a black belt to be a black belt?? come on man, use your brain folks!
I train with him and his master gave him that belt because he was so good. FACTS! Make sense now
