The reason the fnaf 1 crew are as much as they are is because they can walk around. The ability to do that is super advanced and impossible to do in the real world
@jerakaigamez I think the fnaf 1 animatronics are not supposed to be able to move around, seeing how the bite of 87 made the company remove the freeroam feature from the animatronics. and the fnaf 1 animatronics are just the withereds refurbished, meaning that the old code or whatever for being able to move could've been left over and the spirits somehow use it to force the animatronics to move. And they would have to be battery powered since they are not wired to the stage

I can only assume that with the state of the Animatronics and who they had building them, it's likely Afton was extraordinarily cheap, to the point where Freddy's would probably have been insolvent from the very beginning if not for Afton. The business relationship makes all the more sense in that context that even if they were suspicious of Afton they would be bankrupt without him. Mascot costumes are only around 10 to 20% of the price of an equivalent animatronic at best, so imagine the sheer cost cutting measures to develop something like a springlock suit instead of buying a costume.
The reason Freddy's alone didn't go bankrupt earlier is because of William and his tech genius capabilities he created the funtimes in some time between 1984-1986 so them walking around is definitely bot possession but during the night yes , foxy can run which is proof they could walk around before the possession , so their prices would go up by alot

While the wiki isn't 100% reliable, the Puppet being an animatronic is factual as seen in FFPS's Puppet minigame, where it is has security functions (colored bracelet identification instead of faces and no criminal database), can freely walk around prior to possession and despite its very thin and feet lacking legs. I don't think it'd be pulling that off, especially the second, without being a full on animatronic.
I mean, the SpringBonnie suit is technically considered vintage (I mean, it spent 30 years rotting in a damn storage room) so it's likely worth a lot more than it was before Willy died in it. The putrid scent was alwas a mentioned problem but knowing Fazbears, some negligent employee could find a temporary solution and sell it.

You can actually assume that the animatronics have a Voice Box In Them To Laugh, Sing And Play the music box (for freddy). But this is only for the fnaf 1 gang because of the FNAF VR parts and service mini-game. So they could be a bit more expensive
One more thing we could take into account is how much would they cost in terms of "retrospective", as if, they wouldn't cost the same during 1990 than during 2024; the older they are, the more that collectors would pay for them. About Springtrap, I don't believe he'd be "worthless junk". Fnaf 6 technically already told us how much these animatronics cost. The Rockstars, pretty reasonable and modern animatronics, only cost around 8000 or so each. The funtimes clearly cost a lot more though considering funtime chica alone costs around 75k.
8:26 in the last section here regarding spring lock failures, you forgot an important factor, which is worker's compensation laws, which would result in a much higher cost, at a minimum they would be liable to pay half the yearly salary of the employee, either for the rest of their own life, or to their spouse until the deceased would reach retirement age. This adds a minimum of approximately 300k to each incident, without factoring in that worker's comp lawsuits can reach settlements 5-8 times higher than the legal requirement.
Should also consider the fact lethal springlock failures and just springlock failures in general were kinda rare, and did not happen often, with them slowly failing most of the time and giving good amount of time for the worker to escape the suit with enough help, and when well maintained would be hard to trigger on accident.
30k for a shark attack sounds very low. The games are set in the US, where medical prices are in an absurd state. 30k is what the victim of the shark attack might owe if they have insurance, but Freddy Fazbears would also be on the hook for what the insurance itself payed to the healthcare providers and facilities, which adds a 5x-10x multiplier. And if the springlock victim is uninsured, Freddy Fazbears could be on the hook for chargemaster prices, which are generally absurd and exist only to make insurance companies feel good about their deals with their in-network providers and facilities.
I'd almost go so far as to suggest that the Spring-suits are on the upper-end of expensive. Not quite the toys, but not on the low level of the FNAF1 bots either. A technology that can minimize animatronic devices down to a wearable state without changing the shells would probably be a hell of an investment to develop and produce. Regardless of whether the parts used cheap materials or not, those suckers are CUSTOM. ..and we all know how custom-spec parts can drive costs through the roof, across the board for both production as well as maintenance.
Unless i understood it wrong the springlock suits have almost to no animatronic devices on them, their main thing is allowing for both a human and an endoskeleton to wear it, its only animatronic devices would be its AI to detect sounds of children and move towards it.
I liked this video, though just one detail, the withered animatronics were retrofitted with facial recognition technology, which is why the Freddy head works on them too

I feel this is low balling the prices, considering they can all move pretty fast and can leap at you. The toys at least also have the ability to crawl through the vents to get to you, implying an degree of intellect and dexterity that would amp up the prices.

I'd love to see the same thing for other entries. Even weird ones like the Nightmares would be interesting to see, as the the Tales from the Pizzaplex short story Dittophobia revealed that they are real. (The nightmares in 4 are still dreams, but they are partially based on fear experiments done in the SL private areas. And it doesn't matter how people may think the games and books are and/or aren't connected, these stories are designed to tell us things that the games haven't regardless.) I'd especially be interested if you looked into the Fanverse games' animatronics, even if just to see more of an unfortunately mostly ignored part of the franchise. Those Fanverse games being the Five Nights at Candy's and Popgoes series of games, as The Joy of Creation and One Night at Flumpty's games as cool as they are don't feature animatronics. (The entities in TJoC take on the form of animatronics but aren't actually animatronics.)
I think you forgot to account for the time and place these animatronics were made. (Ie Utah in the 80s) and you forgot that fazbear is building these in house so they would probably run a bit cheaper.
I didn't mention it but I was basing the prices off how much they are when they were made. The reason they are pricy is because of how advanced they are. No animatronic in real life can walk around freely, but I had to take into account the in universe properties otherwise the toys would be $15million a pop

I think they are remote controlled but still they are animatronics that walk freely (ie without assistance being held up). I see your sentiment though. I still think it would have been cool to do a video with a bit more research into the time period these were supposed to be made and the technologies available that possibly could have been used in the characters and how much they would have cost at the time. I feel like large numbers (over a million) are so hard to comprehend so breaking up the costs of the parts may have been a cool way to handle it.
The animatronics seem to be charged from some kind of charging pads on the stage that connect to the bottom of their feet. This is mentioned in The Week Before, and it's interesting because it kind of explains why the animatronics are less active at the start of the nights, and why they sometimes return to the stage
Considering William and Henry built a good amount of the animatronics themselves, the costs will probably drop significantly. I'm guessing its more on parts, materials, manufacturing, and the ai programming takes most of the money, with programmers taking a good chunk of the costs. Although I would say the money on the toys are a little too high, a walking animatronic for a Children's establishment would probably be revolutionary, both in 1987 and even today; making programmers hella expensive and animatronics like toy Freddy to somehow walk perfectly balanced is gonna be pricey WITH THE ADDITION of facial detection. The toys being one of the priciest is definitely a possibility, with the SL Animatronics being the most expensive. I would also make maintenance costs a little higher, especially for the Chica animatronics.

The fnaf 1 characters have cyberamic endo head designs and they do not use hydraulics they use servo motors. The phone guy literally says to keep their servos from locking up. And the tape girl in the movie said they use rechargeable lithium cells. And servos use batteries like lithium batteries.

Cause he and mangle are the only pre fnaf 5 characters with special movement besides walking, so would running be considered a feature or just a side effect of their lack of repair?
ima tell you right now a full chuck e cheese/showbiz pizza band was never more than 200k AT MOST. and that's not just animatronic characters, that is show control systems, electrical, wood for the stage, curtains, curtain valances, curtain motors, lights, sceneric props, air compressors, and then your big bunch of animatronic characters plus smaller prop characters. 200k. AT MOST. a single character was not worth more than $3,000 a piece. given the advanced technology in the five Nights at Freddy's characters, maybe 10 to $15,000 a piece.

I know that this video would have been recorded wayyyy before the book was released, but the new book "the week before" states that the animatronics are battery powered, and they go on rechsrging pads while they're on stage. This is what allows them to walk around for birthday parties etc, so they have some limited battery charge that powers them. It also states that freddy is the only animatronic with an actual music box. The laughs are supernatural. Foxys singing is pre-recorded audio from pirates cove, just like how when the animatronics perform they would be "singing" pre-recorded voice lines. Edit: the puppet would actually be quite expensive as it is a security puppet that can access any room and is programmed to track coloured wrist bands. Also you're forgetting this is set in America so hospital bills are WAY higher, insurance is a scam. Also the series takes place from the 80's to 2015 so inflation is a thing

Dude i think the springlock suits are mutch more expensive than you think they are, they have the ability to walk even in animatronic mode and be attracted to sound cues ( the phone guy says it in fnaf 3 ) they have a mechanism that changes the voice of the performer wearing it to the voice of the animatronic character ( in the books ) and if only one performer is using one of the suits due to advanced technology they can take control of the other animatronic ( the original trilogy of books ) also they might have a digital map layout of the building when they are in animatronic from and they are walking around ( the phone guy says it in fnaf 3 ) I know most of this stuff is unrealistic at best but i think it still drives up the price by a lot. Fnaf 6 technically already told us how much these animatronics cost. The Rockstars, pretty reasonable and modern animatronics, only cost around 8000 or so each. The funtimes clearly cost a lot more though considering funtime chica alone costs around 75k.

8:26 in the last section here regarding spring lock failures, you forgot an important factor, which is worker's compensation laws, which would result in a much higher cost, at a minimum they would be liable to pay half the yearly salary of the employee, either for the rest of their own life, or to their spouse until the deceased would reach retirement age. This adds a minimum of approximately 300k to each incident, without factoring in that worker's comp lawsuits can reach settlements 5-8 times higher than the legal requirement.

Should also consider the fact lethal springlock failures and just springlock failures in general were kinda rare, and did not happen often, with them slowly failing most of the time and giving good amount of time for the worker to escape the suit with enough help, and when well maintained would be hard to trigger on accident.

The games are set in the US, where medical prices are in an absurd state. 30k is what the victim of the shark attack might owe if they have insurance, but Freddy Fazbears would also be on the hook for what the insurance itself payed to the healthcare providers and facilities, which adds a 5x-10x multiplier. And if the springlock victim is uninsured, Freddy Fazbears could be on the hook for chargemaster prices, which are generally absurd and exist only to make insurance companies feel good about their deals with their in-network providers and facilities.

I'd almost go so far as to suggest that the Spring-suits are on the upper-end of expensive. Not quite the toys, but not on the low level of the FNAF1 bots either. A technology that can minimize animatronic devices down to a wearable state without changing the shells would probably be a hell of an investment to develop and produce. Regardless of whether the parts used cheap materials or not, those suckers are CUSTOM. ..and we all know how custom-spec parts can drive costs through the roof, across the board for both production as well as maintenance.

Unless i understood it wrong the springlock suits have almost to no animatronic devices on them, their main thing is allowing for both a human and an endoskeleton to wear it, its only animatronic devices would be its AI to detect sounds of children and move towards it.

Thats not true, the freddy head was to combat a glitch where they see you as an endoskeleton after hours

I'd love to see the same thing for other entries. Even weird ones like the Nightmares would be interesting to see, as the the Tales from the Pizzaplex short story Dittophobia revealed that they are real. (The nightmares in 4 are still dreams, but they are partially based on fear experiments done in the SL private areas. And it doesn't matter how people may think the games and books are and/or aren't connected, these stories are designed to tell us things that the games haven't regardless.)
I'd especially be interested if you looked into the Fanverse games' animatronics, even if just to see more of an unfortunately mostly ignored part of the franchise. Those Fanverse games being the Five Nights at Candy's and Popgoes series of games, as The Joy of Creation and One Night at Flumpty's games as cool as they are don't feature animatronics. (The entities in TJoC take on the form of animatronics but aren't actually animatronics.)

I think you forgot to account for the time and place these animatronics were made. (Ie Utah in the 80s) and you forgot that fazbear is building these in house so they would probably run a bit cheaper.
I didn't mention it but I was basing the prices off how much they are when they were made. The reason they are pricy is because of how advanced they are. No animatronic in real life can walk around freely, but I had to take into account the in universe properties otherwise the toys would be $15million a pop

I think they are remote controlled but still they are animatronics that walk freely (ie without assistance being held up). I see your sentiment though. I still think it would have been cool to do a video with a bit more research into the time period these were supposed to be made and the technologies available that possibly could have been used in the characters and how much they would have cost at the time. I feel like large numbers (over a million) are so hard to comprehend so breaking up the costs of the parts may have been a cool way to handle it.
The animatronics seem to be charged from some kind of charging pads on the stage that connect to the bottom of their feet. This is mentioned in The Week Before, and it's interesting because it kind of explains why the animatronics are less active at the start of the nights, and why they sometimes return to the stage

Considering William and Henry built a good amount of the animatronics themselves, the costs will probably drop significantly. I'm guessing its more on parts, materials, manufacturing, and the ai programming takes most of the money, with programmers taking a good chunk of the costs.
Although I would say the money on the toys are a little too high, a walking animatronic for a Children's establishment would probably be revolutionary, both in 1987 and even today; making programmers hella expensive and animatronics like toy Freddy to somehow walk perfectly balanced is gonna be pricey WITH THE ADDITION of facial detection.
The toys being one of the priciest is definitely a possibility, with the SL Animatronics being the most expensive.
I would also make maintenance costs a little higher, especially for the Chica animatronics.

The fnaf 1 characters have cyberamic endo head designs and they do not use hydraulics they use servo motors. The phone guy literally says to keep their servos from locking up. And the tape girl in the movie said they use rechargeable lithium cells. And servos use batteries like lithium batteries.
If true, this would make them wayyyyy more expensive since i picked hydrualics so the moving around would make the most sense

ima tell you right now a full chuck e cheese/showbiz pizza band was never more than 200k AT MOST. and that's not just animatronic characters, that is show control systems, electrical, wood for the stage, curtains, curtain valances, curtain motors, lights, sceneric props, air compressors, and then your big bunch of animatronic characters plus smaller prop characters. 200k. AT MOST. a single character was not worth more than $3,000 a piece. given the advanced technology in the five Nights at Freddy's characters, maybe 10 to $15,000 a piece.
I dont know how advanced they are, but i found comparing everything that the five nights at freddys characters would be that much. Being able to move around is HUGEEEEE

Hi there! I know that this video would have been recorded wayyyy before the book was released, but the new book "the week before" states that the animatronics are battery powered, and they go on rechsrging pads while they're on stage. This is what allows them to walk around for birthday parties etc, so they have some limited battery charge that powers them. It also states that freddy is the only animatronic with an actual music box. The laughs are supernatural. Foxys singing is pre-recorded audio from pirates cove, just like how when the animatronics perform they would be "singing" pre-recorded voice lines.
Edit: the puppet would actually be quite expensive as it is a security puppet that can access any room and is programmed to track coloured wrist bands.
Also you're forgetting this is set in America so hospital bills are WAY higher, insurance is a scam. Also the series takes place from the 80's to 2015 so inflation is a thing

(Hence Mangle's price being lowered because of her quality, not the price Fazbear would have had to pay to commision her in the first place.) Very interesting concept, really drives home how INSANE the idea of so many animtronics existing is in this universe lol. I'd be really curious about Sister Location myself. And Security Breach but given how futuristic the tech is and the sheer number of robots, I imagine it'd be a nightmare to calculate lol

Dude i think the springlock suits are mutch more expensive than you think they are, they have the ability to walk even in animatronic mode and be attracted to sound cues ( the phone guy says it in fnaf 3 ) they have a mechanism that changes the voice of the performer wearing it to the voice of the animatronic character ( in the books ) and if only one performer is using one of the suits due to advanced technology they can take control of the other animatronic ( the original trilogy of books ) also they might have a digital map layout of the building when they are in animatronic from and they are walking around ( the phone guy says it in fnaf 3 ) I know most of this stuff is unrealistic at best but i think it still drives up the price by a lot. Ps Sorry for the broken english
