yes, darcie, you're actually correct. the waiting time in america makes you really impatient, especially if you are used to skorea's "ppali ppali" culture, so that's very understandable. adjusting is really one of the hardest steps, but you are doing so great, darcie! ♡

Pandan is the SEA version of vanilla. It's a leaf hence the green color. In SEA lots of our dessert are made using pandan as flavoring and natural coloring. And it is also to perfume rice and dishes like nasi lemak from Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei and pandan wrapped chicken which is from Thailand couple of example.

Hi Darcie! When I opened up my bank account during my first year as an international student, they had a specific SSN just for us. Most of my friends and I are able to use online banking (even when we have different banks), so maybe you can look into that! Also I really enjoy watching your journey
That's a good idea since most banks prefer you to use online banking. They should have a system for international students or have a bank specifically for them
There is also an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. Foreigners international students used to get these to get the credit card sign up bonuses. 😉

공부하러 갔을때 추억 돋네요. 학교식당들은 다 비슷한가 봄 ㅎㅎ 글고 첨 미국 도착해서 버거킹에서 주문할 때 for here or to go를 못알아들어서 (빨리 말하니 더더욱) 멍 때리고 좌절했던 기억도 (내 영어가 이 지경인가 ㅋㅋㅋ) 새록하네요. 나중에 식당에서 쓰는 짧은 표현 올리면 잼나겠어요 (갑자기?? ㅎㅎ) 여튼 예전 생각 몰려드는 브이로그입니다. 넓은잔디 맑은 공기 깨끗한 하늘 (요즘 미국 대도시는 예전만큼 공기가 깨끗하지 않기는 하지만) 응원합니다~ 홧팅!
정말 궁금한 점 큐앤에이 뒤져도 안나오네요. 영어를 어찌 이렇게 잘하시는지 궁금😊

If you want to try good American food, I recommend Moose’s Tooth in Anchorage. Also they have the best local Alaska beer if you’re of legal drinking age.
Having grown up in the US. I usually don't tip when ordering from one of those counter tablet thingys. It's more important for restaurants with servers/waiters, delivery drivers, barbers/hairstylists, hotel service, and bartenders. But unless it's some coffee shop you go to regularly tips are just extra but not a necessity. Imo at least😂
왠디스.... 칠리 사이드 시키고 감자 찍어 먹어도 맛나요. 배고프면 베이크드 감자도.. 맥 과 A&W보다 더 자주가는 브랜드 나중엔 그냥 간단히 칠리랑 감자만 먹어도 든든

In Alaska, boys love hamburgers and it also depends on the boys' preferences. The pizzas that were shown look delicious like the field where the students played to relax from studies. Good video, Darcie.💓✌

One tip when getting fast food, order by number. "Number 2 combo" / "Number 2 meal" boom done. If you ask for a chicken sandwich they'll ask if you want homestyle or spicy or grilled or something and it gets confusing.
Once upon a time I was an English teacher in the sticks of Korea. I lived off ramen for weeks. I took the train to the big city and found a McDonalds. Asked for a number 4. I knew almost no Korean. I wondered why it was $35. They gave me four number four meals. Almost ate all of it. In the US anyways, I don't think that would happen.

You should check out the city from the popular flat top mountain overlook before it snows. Go with someone that know the area and has 4 wheel drive vehicle. Overlook is on left side of the parking lot, where you can see the whole city of anchorage and right side is where people hike up the mountain. There is a parking fee.
They have "Korean" corndogs at the Dimond Mall :)
