I remember him coming to a little Lebanese restaurant on Westeimer in Houston to pick up his arabic food, very down to earth person.

He was the epitome of Texas Tuff. I used to love going to Jamail’s grocery store on Kirby when I was growing up. I’ve heard from people that had business dealings with him that they could always take him at his word with a handshake because they knew his integrity really mattered a to him.

He saw wrong and tried to right it. He saw suffering and tried to heal it. He saw a deposition and tried to run it. 👼

If you want to know what Joe Jamail was REALLY like, watch the youtube video "Texas Style Deposition".

I can't believe he did so much. He was a stern man. I could develop that side some more. I want to be a lawyer, though Canadian legal climate is different, as far as profit is concerned.

He had great skill but a hell of a lot luck, esp. in that oil case that put his name in Longhorn stadium where he siphoned off about a billion in legal fees. He and Dick DeGurien were both beasts in the courtroom. But Dick ran into Kelly Sigluar and lost every time.

The HBO Icahn doc had some unflattering comments about Joe. Any retorts to that? I hate the idea of bad mouthing a dead man who can’t give his side.

At the end of the day, he had great respect for Joe, and I’m sure Joe could do a very funny impression of Icahn…I actually laugh REALLY hard when I hear Carl do a Joe impression, and although I think he’s really putting it on, I don’t think it’s really malicious…

Nothing but a two bit attorney using class action lawsuits to leverage massive fees for himself and peanuts for the people he was supposedly representing. Hero for the people? More like glorified ambulance chaser.

Joe was not involved in any class actions in his career -- your thinking of someone else.

Look another person who knows nothing about lawyers or what they do! Making widely unfounded assumptions? Check. No information but a lot to say? Check. Thinks they are smart but have spent 0 minutes researching? Check.

Look another idiot doing what he's accusing somebody else of doing.

Rowgue51 please tell me how? Joe was a Marine who fought in the Pacific during WWII. He was the wealthiest attorney in America. His biggest case was a case he won for his friend, the CEO of Pennzoil. He never did class actions. He paid for a lot, and I mean a lot, of people to go to law school for nothing in return. He donated millions to charity. He is considered by many to be the greatest trial lawyer ever in America. Please, tell me, have you fought for your country? Have you been considered the best at your profession? Or best at anything for that matter? What have you done with your life that even compares to Joe, whom you call an "ambulance chaser"
