I remember this it was so fun me and my brother put on mackintoshes and watched the waves crash against the wall

It must be frustrating for locals seeing house prices going through the roof and being unable to afford .

Just want to point out to any none Cornish, St Mawes is no longer a village, it is now almost entirely made up of wealthy second homers.. and therefore come winter you are lucky if you will see fifty lights on, with the other thousand or more homes being boarded up or dark. Should be renamed a holiday park! So sad to see a place across from my home of Falmouth, that when I was a child you would only hear mostly Cornish voices about the place, when I visited my grandfather who was born there, to now 40 plus years later were it is very rare to hear one there... :( If the Castle wasn't protected they'd rip it down and build another glass fronted monstrosity in its place.

Linda T very easy to say that when they enjoy all the benefits that it gives to the area in the summer months.
You’d miss the wealthy summer people if they left.

St Mawes is a fabulous place, I spend the whole summer working with the harbour company. It definitely is not a holiday park. It retains its traditions throughout the year without being overrun by tourism.
