Jen, this walk thru the history of brows is absolutely WONDERFUL! To see how trends have come and gone over the centuries really proves that “sooner or later, everything old is new again”💕💕💕
Phenomenal work Jen! Surely that took a lot of time and energy to research and edit. Well worth your dedication. My favorite video you have ever created. Brava!!
See Jen THIS is where you really excel and shine! You have a natural, entertaining enthusiasm in your voice overs, and it shows how much you love doing this because you’re so good at it. I learned a lot today the only part I actually knew it was the part about maybelline and that’s only because I have a study of my own, but your geeky nerdiness for information really made this entertaining and I hope you do more things like this. I think it really sets you apart. ❤
Okay, I have to put this here publicly. When you first mentioned wanting to do a 'history of eyebrows' video I was skeptical. But, I knew if anybody could make this interesting it would be YOU! And, of course, you crushed this! What a fun way to learn some history and have some laughs along the way.
Jen! This was an amazing video. So well thought out and informative. I’d love to see more deep dives into stuff like this. If you have the time of course. I know you are a busy gal! Honestly I’d be interested in you geeking out (in the best possible sense) about skin care ingredients! Like “top 10 ingredients to look for in your skincare routine” type thing and why. Anyways, have a beautiful day! ❤
I was a teen in the 90s/00s and I just did not want to pluck my brows! I’m so glad I didn’t like that trend. I loved 50s actresses so I liked their brows and I think Brooke Sheilds brows are gorgeous. Great video Jen 💙
I love it! I hope you decide to do these for the rest of our faces! I'm an elderly millennial who lived through a lot of trends, but I've never really tried any shape other than the one I've naturally got. I do love to have my eyebrows threaded though.
Lol since you asked my favorite brow look is natural. My least favorite is the Instagram block brow. Omgosh those big black blocks of brows creeped me out!
This was a fascinating walk through eyebrow history, and I enjoyed every minute of it! As a 64 y.o. , I had naturally full-ish brows going into the mid 1970's. That is until one day I got ahold of my mom's tweezers and went the skinny brow look. I was highly influenced by my school friends who were all young Black women, and loved that eyebrow look at the time. Then along came Punk, and thick AF brows...so I let mine grow back in. Easy enough this time around! But, HELLO 90's and oops I did it again with the super skinny brows all the way into the early 2000's, but this time around, my brows had had enough of me and never fully recovered. So I have medium thickness, not Madonna or Debbie Harry, nor Grace Jones or Diana Ross, fill them in because they just are sparser and I'm too disgusted by the idea of using 🐀 hides!
Omg I loved this!! I too fell victim to the over-plucking in the 90s, lmao accidentally shaving a potion of my eyebrow off (hooray for learning), and then somehow achieving a weird bald spot 😅 definitely a fan of a clean more natural fill in of brows. I think thin brows are coming back which is a bit terrifying 😅. You're awesome Jen!
Loved this. I was there in the 90’s and refused to over pluck my brows. I still rock my full brow. I think the next trend is going to be thin brows again but perhaps shaped like the 20’s and moon shaped.
I was a victim of the thin brows in the early 2000s and wonder why no one stopped me. But thank goodness for family genetics because my brows are naturally thick and bushy. Plus, my mom warned me not to overpluck as I get older and I've followed that advice. XD But I love this video! It's nice to see something a little different.
Cool video!! Erin Parsons post a lot of makeup history videos and I find them fascinating!! I love learning new things and discovering the history behind it!
The 40s brow was really where things started looking modern! I love seeing all the different trends from around the world, and in different subcultures. Great video, Jen!
When I was in high school back in the early 2000's, I overplucked my eyebrows and they never really grew back. I penciled them in with a Maybelline pencil and actually got made fun of by my classmates. Now, it's acceptable to pencil in the eyebrows or grow them out naturally. I never really followed the trends over the years. Today I still do my brows like actress Rita Hayworth and Vivien Leigh from the movie Gone With The Wind. The Ancient Egyptian brows/eyes are my favorite, but I probably wouldn't wear it LOL!
Great video! Definitely a fan of this new video type. As somebody who's ~ambiguously Mediterranean~ I have thick, bushy brows. But they're a bit patchy, so I always fill them in. Usually, just a hint of a natural looking powder. Other times, for a bolder look, I'll sketch them with liquid liner. I don't like a feathered look on me, I like my brows to look more "dense" regardless of style.
I never thought about this but these vids are such a great format for you having a teaching background!!! I absolutely love these types of vids. I hope you do more! ❤
That is so freaking cool about the Eye of Horace matching up with the brain- I’m going to read the article after the video. I’ve never heard about that before!!! Loving this video already!!! Great job Jen!!! 😊
Hi Jen! What a great video!!! When I was younger, they compared my eyebrows to Brooke Shields! I too, overplucked my brows, I’ve got a lot of them back, never like when I was young though!!!!! Great video!!!🌺🌺🌺
I’ve been learning more about brows, this has some info I didn’t know!! Also, LOVE this style video from you Jen!! 🎉♥️ I used to get my brows waxed often but they were always uneven! Now after a million compliments on them.. I embrace my thick, brushed brows! Using a brow brush and then brow gel to keep them in place!
Jen, thank you for this refreshing and informative video. I'll always be a "Brooke Shields" gal--naturally full brows and it's not my nature to change with trends or society dictates! ❤😂
I’m so excited for this video! I feel like it came at the perfect time. I’m in the process of growing my brows back to its natural shape and thickness after 4+ years! I love makeup and history so the combination of my two loves is super exciting. Mad love for you Jen and I hope you are doing well!🥺💜
Jen, you did an absolutely phenomenal job on this video. It was beyond fascinating! Mouse skin brows?? Who knew?? I'm so sorry this video didn't get the views you hoped for, because I can only imagine the huge amount of work it took and man, was it amazing!! Thank you!
This was such an awesome and fun video! I've always embraced my natural brows, and love them, and also love makeup and watching styles and trends! I really hope you make a few more videos like this for other beauty things, it was great!!!
I went and had my eyebrows professionally shaped and I got a new woman at my salon. Apparently, she’s still into the 90’s because my brows are so thin now. I am in the journey of letting them regrow out.
This was so informative and so fun. I have very rarely had to do anything with my brows. I did lighten them a time or two and I’ve shortened my very dramatic tails a time or two but aside from plucking a few strays my brow care is very simple. I shape them with water and my fingers after cleansing and they fall into place.
Thanks for this today Jen! I just turned 40 today and I was so excited when I saw your tweet yesterday. I loved this! Please do more deep dives like this!
I've always had a fuller brow and LOVED that mine were similar to Brooke Shields who I loved when I was a tween. Thankfully, I didn't get on board with the 90's pencil thin trend and still have decently full brows. p.s. I follow Alex as well and was pleasantly surprised to see her on here. ☺
I was influenced by my sister’s beautiful eyebrows and not by the celebrities of the hour. Hers were dark, full and perfectly arched, while mine were nothing like that, but I still tried to achieve her look, so I never plucked my eyebrows beyond a light cleaning around them to define their shape and form. I’m very glad about this, because I still have my full eyebrows (even if they’re not striking) while most of my friends lost theirs due to excessive plucking.
So, my mom was a farm girl who never followed makeup trends. She did try to get me to pluck some of my eyebrow hairs to form an arch when I was a young teen, but I never got carried away with it. I was never blessed with thick brows to begin with, and having developed autoimmune hypothyroidism, they got really sparse in my mid-30’s. That was in the late 90’s, so it might have looked like I was doing it on purpose, but now I feel hurt when people accuse me of overplucking back in the day.
Excellent video!! Sad that you missed the Gwen Stefani brow - she was HUGE during the 90's. And, Cara DeLevigne was a major inspo to the current bushy brow.
What a wonderful video. From an “older” viewer…I thank my mother for over plucking her brows in the 50’s and warning me to not do the same. Since trends come and go.
This was so cool!! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I definitely got stuck in the thin brow era. They never really came back fully. I LOVE love love the feather brow though. I’ve been trying to copy Alex’s for over a year now… they never quite look as good as hers though 🤣🤣🤣
Just want to say a BIG thank you for this video and all your research and hard work. Must've taken ages! It was brilliant and informative and funny and sooooo interesting 👍🏼 please do more if your time allows 🎉❤
I loved this video Jen!! Makeup history is so fun! I sadly went along with thw 90s thin brow trend. I was teased for my naturally thick brows. I would've never imagined my natural brow to be in now. But unfortunately parts of my brows never recovered and I have bald spots 😂
Amazing video Jen! I leave these short documentary type videos with lots of interesting information. Reminded me of Mina Le. It is a shame that it hasn't got as much views as your other videos... I hope you make these type of videos more in the future.
Jen, this walk thru the history of brows is absolutely WONDERFUL! To see how trends have come and gone over the centuries really proves that “sooner or later, everything old is new again”💕💕💕
My teen mom of the 60’s (who overplucked and has no eyebrows now)told me to never pluck my eyebrows. I’m so glad I listened.
My mom told me that too!!
Phenomenal work Jen!

I loveeee how far back in history this video goes!!! such an informative, and entertaining video 🤍
WOW! Very eye opening!
Loved this video jen!
I think all eyebrow styles can look good depending on one's face shape. Do what makes you feel good!
Jen! This was an amazing video. So well thought out and informative. I’d love to see more deep dives into stuff like this. If you have the time of course. I know you are a busy gal!

This video is great! I’m a history geek and especially love learning about past beauty and fashion trends - this was a fun watch.😀
Love this video so much!! Please make this a series!

Love this. So interesting. I think the brow trends will always be a thing, but the fact is, different styles compliment different faces.

Lipstick over the years!!!
Also, as a girl with blond, thin eyebrows this was fun to watch.
Anyway, lipstick through the ages would be cool!

That was awesome. Great job!!👏👏
Great video, Jen! I really enjoyed learning!
I'm so glad!
I love this video. My favorite is still the 50s brow or the disco brow. I love a high arch, but I don't like my brows too blocky.
Fantastic post! So educational and it made me feel better about my brows and attempts to improve them 😅
What a wonderful video. From an “older” viewer…I thank my mother for over plucking her brows in the 50’s and warning me to not do the same. Since trends come and go.
LOVED THIS JEN!! 👏🏻👏🏻
