I miss seeing different faces and more authentic style, like during the 90’s and 00’s. Sure there were plastic surgery and fashion trends, but it was more natural and customized to each person. It didn’t seem like things were copied and pasted on to everyone.
I couldn't disagree more. When I discuss fashion of today with my mother (she's 60 and I'm in my 20s) her favorite thing about today's fashion is that people on the street could be wearing anything! You might see someone walking around in full cotton/linen 1850s garb, a full disco-inspired getup, and sweatpants and a t shirt all waiting for the same bus and noone will bat an eye. I think we have more encouragement to be an individual and explore fashion than we ever have.
Full lips were still big in the 90s. That’s when the big lip filler craze started. So many of my friends started getting them. A lot of it wasn’t reversible. They were using silicone. And other things.
Lip augmentation became popular because Angelina Jolie was pretty much considered the most beautiful woman in Hollywood. People wanted her lips. The Jenner's did not start this trend.
@@alisonk29 her lips were natural, but she had a nose job that made it smaller and thinner, so that makes her lips look proportionally larger on her face.
Trends come and go. Whenever something new becomes mainstream and common it will begin to go out of fashion. It's how it's always been. That's why classic style and looking like yourself is the best. The shift back to natural looks was only inevitable once again, but that too will pass in a decade or so, and another unnatural craze will come.
Unique beauty will always reign supreme and never truly go out of style. The internet can fool some but when it's all said and done individuality will always be most desirable. The net's full of smoke and mirrors (and bullshit)

Wow, I have been watching your channel for a while now and never knew you worked in medical aesthetics! Wonderful, high-quality content that you have been releasing btw. I love listening to your episodes at work :)
Does this mean the trend of coloring a straight line across your cupids bow is on the way out too? I'm usually good about letting everyone do there own thing but I can stand to look at someone with that smear of lipstick over their lip.
Faces look the same thanks to fillers, they are everywhere in the face. So happy this trend is ending!!! But the look will remain unless they pay to disolve it. Good job, Laura❤

Yes there are all varieties of course, however by tendency the more northern your heritage, the thinner lips, it is an adaptation to cold climate, big lips are more adapted to warm climate
Back then just getting any type of cosmetic surgery done was taboo. It's so crazy so many people have gotten it. I hope the next generation looking at their parents don't think that this should be the standard
I have never seen anyone admit that the trend of wanting full lips comes from seeing black people with naturally full lips. That is a natural phenotype that we have. Kylie was inspired by black people to get her lips filled.
Remember the "Trout Pout".......those overdone lips simply cry out for RIDICULE....and furthermore, who wants to look like everybody else on the planet? Individual unique beauties are far more interesting.

They did that in the late 1940s and 1950s too. It looked like a smear then and still does.
