I ordered the same cape last year for my DOJ costume. I pretty sure I ordered from the same seller. I had them custom the length I wanted. Mine didn't come with the ties. It came with a snap button. I'm with you, I love the cape and if anything happens to it it would be easy on my wallet to go buy another one.
I bought the cape a couple months ago and got it finally a few weeks ago. It's pretty awesome, better than the heavier leather cape I had years ago. I wish they made a Batman mask out of the same material.
This size is what you need to be able to glide using parachute silk material. With expanding framework for holding a bat shape while gliding. This will cost a few hundred dollars though if you want it to hold you in the air to glide.
