I put in factory built OEM projector head lights. They use a single bulb that is both the low and high beam, so you can switch back and forth as needed without worrying about short cycling the HID bulbs. I like them better than the Recon light, being OEM there should be no trouble with the law either.
all done, took half an hour, the 2012 grill is the only diff from the 2013, love it, bought the headlights and the wire harness from project retrofits, very satisfied with them.
She was talking about the ground on the battery, before I attached the harness power cable she was making sure the battery ground was off. She is pretty talented with many things. I was talking about maybe attaching the relay box in a better location, I decided it was okay where I put it for now.
you were saying something about "working on that later" when you were installing your passenger side headlight ground. also your video camera person (your wife?) said something about "having your other ground off", when you were tightening the power to the battery. are you talking about the same passenger side headlight ground in both cases? Thanks.
For those of you that have install everything correctly and your lights shut off after about a minute, make sure you have the D3S/D3R ballast and not the combo D1/D3 that trs sends out with their conversion kits
Have you had any problems with the harness from Retrofit? Some of the guys are doing the same thing using the 2013/14 HID D3S spyder version projectors. Some have had the harness or relays to fail, but retrofit is very prompt to replace them.
Great job man, but way to scary for me, I'll be paying this baby off the next 5 years, Id hate to to fuck something up and have things rattle or short. Are there HID lights that just plug in to existing harness? Wow 950 smachers thats a 1985 f150 beater to keep around the farm
Looks very well done. I'm still waiting to see the night video. That's when they look the nicest. I was fortunate enough that these came standard on my 13 fx4.
Nice video, I just bought a 09 F150 Platinum and just wondering if they will fit? I parked in front of another 14 platinum that had this projectors and everything looks the same.
Look`s pretty sweet man now just need the new grill from a 2013 f-150 and people will think you have a 2013 f-150. I just got a 2013 ford f-350 lariat fx4 white super duty it`s got lots or torque and power 6.7 power stroke. What`s yours the ecoboost or 5.0l?
Cool Video! Have you noticed that the driver's side is brighter than the other? I got some oems hids with the morimoto harness and Im noticing this issue.
just curious but why would you pay more than a grand to manually retrofit your headlights when you could just buy recon headlights that are around $650?
+Oscar Pena the answer is yes the evo X-R projectors are a direct fitment to the original projector. You just need to make custom mounting plate for the new ballast and to cover the oe ballast hole in the housing. Plus convert from a D3S system to a D2S bulb and ballast. The Evo X-R projector is a night and day difference.
Hey I was wondering how long it took you to get this harness from retrofit? I ordered it about three weeks ago after seeing your video and still nothing has come in, get back to me please. Greatly appreciated!
I bought them from user 816godschild on ebay for right at $950 complete with every thing but the wiring harness. I bought the harness for I think about $100 from Projector Retrofits.

I just called my local ford dealership and they quote me $1,000 per side. I like the end result, but hard to justify spending $2,000 dollars on this project. So, do you have a recommendation on where to buy OEM at a more affordable price? Is the harness the only other major component I would need? Can you provide the actual product name and contact info for Projector Retrofits? This is good stuff! Thanks.
Nice and good job sir
F150 Halogen to OEM HID conversion (2009-2014) at the retrofit source part# H110
Everything is working great so far, not a single problem!
I have the 5.0 and really like it. I just new to change out the exhaust one day to make it sound a little better.

Where did you get the 2013 lights
Looks good. Are those the gloss black headlamps for the FX models?
installing my new hid lights in right now from projectoretrofits.com…thanks for the video and great commentary from the wife!

I just traded my truck a couple of months ago and they were still working great.
video helped out a lot for the morimoto

i'm curious if the turn signal will act as your DRL now, since that is the oem function on the 2013, or if its a completely separate wiring harness.
The DRL feature does not work on my truck, I would like it to.
Nice ! . What's the link to order the harness.?
Hey GardandGuns, looks like you did this retrofit a year and a half ago. Have any issues since the install?
Sorry so late to get back to you. They are working great still!
Where did you get the lights and how much did you pay for everything?
I bought the complete headlight housing with bulbs and ballast on ebay for $950 and a harness for $100 from Projector Retrofits.
Can aftermarket hid's and ballast be used with these projectors

I have $1,050 in the conversion.

I was lucky and found them on eBay.
Right at $1050
Great video! So I understand, when you say HID, are converting to standard halogen projectors with upgraded bulbs or are these true Xenon headlights?
These are the OEM Ford HID headlights Ford started putting on their trucks the year model after mine.

Can you share the link that you purchased the harness from? I ordered the one that they have on their page, but my harness is different. Thanks
Angel De La Cruz
The retrofit source also sells the conversion harness. Just type in F-150 OEM HID conversion harness and it should pop right out
5.0 is more choice. The turbos seem like something else to go bad.
All these dudes want these headlights. What's with the human mind that goes I want what he's got tooo..
I have this on my 2014, what bulbs do you use for the headlight bulbs?
Just the stock Ford bulbs.
Yes
