The hat! ❤❤❤ This is one of my favourite episodes. As Luke's number one fan, for me this episode was everything. His distaste for Rory having a boyfriend, him and Lorelai, and all of this - pure perfection. I was giddy with you. ❤
Love Luke! My absolute favourite character of the entire series. Currently listening to Scott Patterson's (Luke's actor) podcast where he watches the show for the first time and reviews/comments on the episodes and brings other cast and crew members to talk about filming. It's so wholesome. He just started a rewatch, but I'm still at the beginning and I know I have a lot of fun stuff to look forward to. Oh, btw, the podcast is called "I am all in".

I’m so glad someone finds Emily’s attitude a bit much, lots of people like that about Emily but I find it so disrespectful and such a manipulator and guilt trips she makes me hard to like her at times.
ahhh yes! I want to like her but there is something about the way that she looks down on others and speaks to them as if they are nothing but an inconvenience to her life that drives me nuts. it's so incredibly disrespectful 😭
so when's the Live Laugh Love Luke merch coming 😂 Jane Lynch is one of the queens of guest spots on TV shows, especially pre-Glee. One of those actors who just shows up everywhere because they're just trying to get work. This is one of those memorable Gilmore Girls episodes for sure. I haven't seen it in YEARS and I still remembered every story beat.
It’s not the quick wit that bothers me and I love a snarky comment, that’s very fun mostly. It’s the way she talks and treats people that she deems as being beneath her. I have yet to see Lorelei treat someone as if they are less important than her and Emily does it time and time again which is where I have issues with her. Hopefully that ends at some point bc I want to like her character very much! 🩶
Lorelei rarely has the intention to hurt anyone, and feels bad if she does. How people react to her quips determines what she thinks of them, but it's a compatibility test with her, not judgement. Emily judges other people constantly. Her wit is barbed rather than just sharp.
So, I don't know if this counts as a "spoiler" or not, but this episode changes the status quo for the rest of the series: Luke is never (aside from one or two exceptions) seen in the show wearing any hat other than this one, ever again. 🥰🥰🥰

So all the things you dislike about Emily are things that I dislike about characters who behave like that however because Kelly Bishop is such a great actress and the writing is sooo good, not only do I never hate Emily, she’s actually my favorite character. I know she does terrible things but her intentions are always good just very misguided.
Luke is for the most part the best character. My favorite parts of this show are luke and lorelai moments like in this episode or refering to them like emily and lorelai talking about luke at rory's party. Emily is the worst... though paris is a top contender.
