Best channel on doing trees/scenery out there. Music as well. I went to the art store here in town and got all this stuff and it makes doing scenery waaaaaay better!!!!
Im really loving this tree buisness. Just found some 12 mill static grass. It is really neat stuff....ordered some Golden fibre paste too. Ill be following along with you . Thanks for your time to post all of your creations.....!
I've come back to this older series to pause with my trees and see if I'm missing anything. The addendum is vital, I need to tease more 12m off the branches before I flock. Invaluable advice...
I know what you mean. It is easy to over-flock the branches with 12mm static grass and actually kill the effect of branches which actually make the trees more natural. I push all my overly ambitious "flocked" trees to the rear as filler. They all work depending how you arrange them . . . 😉
Thank You Peter. I enjoy sharing this because I know there are equal rewards for those who increase their skills in the "Art of the Diorama," especially when it comes to model railroading. Cheers. - Boomer.
Hey Boomer. Built one today using two wire sizes (0,75 and 0,3 mm) which was tricky until I applied the paste. That 0,3 mm wire was a challenge. But it looks fantastic. Used static fiber (6,5 was at hand). Tried natural fibers as well, but that didn't want to stick much or it thached . Anyway, I'm very happy with the result. Best deciduous tree so far. So thanks!
Sounds great! The smaller guage wire is challenging, but the results can be stunning. I find by painting the wire first helps to adhere to fibers with matte medium. Although, matte medium works with any surface, it is that good. Cheers.
Awesome results. I'm not sure I have the patience to brush on the glue mixture before flocking but I guess that's the difference between a good tree and a really great tree. I admire your level of patience. Great video. PS love the cat !!
Thank you very much for your tutorials! They are very lively, helpful and insightful! One can feel your experience and your results are amazing! If you need some more leafs, drop me a message. I live in Germany, the home of Noch and I will get some to you.
Thank You Daniel. I appreciate your encouraging comment and offer to accommodate me. I thought it would be good to describe the process in a little more detail. There are certainly many approaches to this particular method. This is a good thing for the model railroad community overall. Cheers. - Boomer.
Great series, learned a lot. The final product looks amazing and definitely appears to be worth the effort. Also, might be the engineer in me talking here but a thumbs up for the Boomer sketches when they make an appearance!
I still love to go back and check all your old vids. they are a great help and source of inspiration in this video (and i think one or two other vids) you mention the leafs by Noch that are no longer available. Last month I was at a big show in the Netherlands (called ontraxs) where a Polish company was selling leafs that look al lot like the ones by Noch. these are made by a company called mbrmodel. I wanted to send you an email to send you some pics, but couldn't find any contact info on your channel. so hopefully you wil read this.🙂
This has been an outstanding tutorial. The fruit tree looks absolutely amazing! Curious as to your choice of carpenters glue over plain white glue, I'm sure there is a reason but noticed in many of your videos to date you always reference carpenter's glue. Thanks, you are a true artist and teaching me so many new concepts and techniques!
Hey boomer awesome work you are definitely a professional absolutely the best I've seen !!!!! . But anyways youtube has been doing shady stuff to people and unsubscribing people I didn't even get a notification and I missed four videos and I be always got all notification s for your videos . I'm sure you are aware of that but just wanted to let you know that they do that its b.s...... anyways I'm now caught up and had to reset all notifications button have a awesome day man stay safe out there .
Thank You. The only thing I have noticed on my end is some comments do not get posted down below, when they appear on the "bell" notification icon. Therefore, I cannot reply to them. Cheers. - Boomer.

Sorry if I missed this but in most of your builds use the acrylic matte medium as the glue, why the wood glue this time? Does it have a better adherence for the leaf flake?
You have to be one with the tree you're modeling. LOL. For real though, it helps to think about what a tree looks like in the winter time to get the woody parts right.
So true! Wait until you see the Old Growth Cedar Log I am modelling on the AMT 1/25th Logging Truck. I love the big scale stuff. Thank You also for commenting! I appreciate it. Cheers. ~ Boomer
@@boomerdiorama Hey, sounds really good. Your videos are entertaining and I like your approach to modeling. I have to admit, I didn't know you did bigger scale stuff, I watch HPI Guys too.

I have been using Matt medium which is probably not the most economical 😂 Managed to get a truck load of Noch leaves on my last trip to Australia because it is impossible to get them in Singapore and shipping from US is a real gouge
How many fifty dollar cars and two hundred dollar locomotives do we have sitting around? It's all relative to the bigger picture for me. Besides you can water down matte medium as well to extend it.
This is funny Boomer.. I just finished uploading my mess-ups in working with trees and giving you a big Shout-Out also w/ my cat in the video.. David BAC V RR
Boomer you should try using parsley for leaves I cheat on trees I tend to use wood dowels for trunks of trees never tried the wire method but I’m watching and learning
Thank You for that. It was just a fluke. Just happened to snap off three quick timely shots, since cats are impossible to direct . . . lol. Glad you like it. Cheers. - Boomer.
easy way: before you start to build a tree, go out for a walk and look for the one tree you like, then stay there for 30 minutes and just look at every detail how the tree was growing... and then you realize how you can get a nice shape in your modeltree. I saw a video once where the guy was talking a part of a real tree, because this part was loking like a real tree in small already... so was only need to paint lite bit and put the leaves on... i was looking around but dont find this special viodeo at the moment. I was looking at work already if i find something usefull but it is often just a lucky shoot. If you have bushes outside maybe is something usefull to find there.... that would reduce the wirework... but at the end its only to be creative what you actually could use to create a tree... maybe when you have kids, just ask them, how they would make a tree. Kids are often very smart because they still see the world with different eyes.
You make an excellent point, "maybe when you have kids, just ask them, how they would make a tree. Kids are often very smart . . ." Kids are often young enough to not be indioctrinated about anything. They see things through "fresh" eyes . . . Cheers. - Boomer.
Wow, wow, wow... I get it! Man this is fantastic. I think Scenic Express makes some nice leaf material as well!
It is all in how one uses it. Otherwise no one pays attention to it.
