    I had two surgery's in 2017 because i have two defective disc's with severe numbness and tingling sensation on my right leg all the way to the tip of my toes.. I've been living in severe pain for a little over a decade day night. Now i'm going for a spinal fusion surgery very soon where they will remove the L5 disc to install a support to it an screws on top of that..my only happy time are always when im asleep cause i feel no tribulation in my life for just a little while. Though i just saw a live video based on the spinal fusion surgery and it is a big surgery.. Omg. I'm going to die fat and single.

    It takes life from you. It takes your soul from you. I was in my 20s when my laminectomy failed and now I’m just anxious and in pain. No life.

    I have read quite a few comments and many people are looking for hope and you deserve it too. Being a bit, reasonably or completely rid of existing ongoing pain is the best thing that can happen but you will need to swim or do aqua based exercise to get strong and boost that wellbeing. I set sights on being somewhat pain free rather than aim too high before surgery and if it works well over time, wow, what a bonus. Medicine has progressed and health workers are generally trying to do their best for you but everyones body is different so try not to focus too much on someone with a negative or set your expectations so high for a 100% cure. Let it flow and develop 🦋

      JaxyWaxy it gets better after 3rd week. I had l5s1 fusion anterior and posterior January 31. I am walking like a robot with that brace. The brace gives me stability to walk but pain is still there. Recovery is something we have to be very patient about.

    My 12yo daughter is having a spinal fusion next week for scoliosis (80° curve). Definitely having trouble sleeping thinking about my girl having such a major operation.

    • @devindier
      @devindier 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      With an 80 degree curve she will definitely get way better. I just had the surgery done a week ago, first week so far for me is horrible but it gets worse before it gets better. Your daughter will be ok, she will breathe better and be much much taller. Just be with her as much as possible, it is not fun to be alone in the hospital especially with the amount of pain associated with this surgery. I’m sure she will do great, good luck!

      Thank you so much...we are one week post op and still in the hospital:( toughest week of our lives. She is 12. So strong and hanging in there. We had complication and they had to stop the surgery as ut wasn't safe to continue. Because if nerve signals that were happening with the spinal cord. Big scare she could have been paralyzed. The doctor ended up stopping the surgery 6 hrs in waking her up and seeing her in ICU. It was devastating. She recovered well, and is back in the OR tomorrow morning. Really hoping and praying they an finish safely and get the rods in.

    • @devindier
      @devindier 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I told them I have to wait for my health insurance to kick in. So I wait.. im on lots of meds and off work for the next few weeks. Just waiting to see what the surgeon thinks.

    Hi, I'm hoping for some light at the end if the tunnel.
    So without boring you with my back history it has now come down to the huge decision of choosing 1 of 2 operations.
    1 being spinal fusion L5 S1 or
    Full spinal fusion as above but fused to my pelvis. I am so confused and worried, it's such a huge decision. The decision is made difficult as the surgeon said choice 1 not guaranteed as spine below not strong enough to support this. And in which case I could be back in less than a year having the full pelvis one done. Has anyone had the full pelvis fusion?
    Karen

      Tina, I had spinal fusion on 3,4,5 and 6 in my neck 15 days ago. I had 4 titanium cartridge replacements with a titanium plate on the front with 8 screws. Mine is considered a very aggressive surgery. As of today I am off pain meds. All my previous symptoms, pain and numbness are gone. My swallowing is still an issue. It is nothing I cannot deal with, but it is something you notice. I return to desk work in 6 days. The worst part is the first 72 hours. I threw up 5 times at day 1 because of anathesia reaction. In the first 72 hours I could not swallow anything but ice chips and pain level was 8/10. After that,the pain quickly got better. Ice is a major friend. I brought my own large ice packs as the hospital only had small ones. I would do the surgery again in a second.
      Hope this helped and good luck!

    • @awarenessvillage
      @awarenessvillage 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the exact same surgery in 2016 at 53 years old. Get ALL your questions answered. You will feel much better. The brace isn't so bad and you won't wear it for a year. The year is so your muscles move around to accommodate the correct position of your spine, etc. Your surgical pain will be gone within a couple weeks. The first week is the worst. After that week you will feel exponentially better every few days.

    This is BS. Insurance companies pay the highest rate for the initial days in the hospital, so hospitals kick patients out when they still need care. A retired discharge planner spilled the beans to me: as soon as someone is admitted to the hospital, it’s their job to figure out how to get them out.
