Don’t let them fool you. That shit hurt so bad the second day I thought I was dying for 13 hours straight. They left me in pain n thought Percocet 15 or Dilaudid would fix the pain part. The third day hurt bad as fu*k for 3 hours too. The fourth day I was sent home. It was my second surgery on my back. Be careful. Fuck achy. That shit hurts

I had a 360° fusion in 2016 and remember them saying I had a ton of post op pain in the PACU at a dallas TX hospital. I remember hurting alot for nearly 2-4weeks. I am having my second and hopefully last surgery ! I've been on oxycodone for a few months now so post op pain has me worried. They mentioned using a fentanyl patch as soon as surgery is over and getting one after I leave. Not too thrilled with having to take as much as I may have too!

I am 57 years old and will be having a 3 level laminectomy at the cervical area , C3-5 in a few weeks... ( No fusion) How long will my recovery be in regards to returning to daily activities? Cooking, Cleaning, Showering, etc. I now walk 5 miles daily and my legs aren't affected- it is mainly arm weakness. I am worried as I live alone and don't have family in the U.S.- my social worker hasn't really given me details on aftercare- what exactly I will be getting and for how long. I do not drive because of my eyesight, and currently I shop either on foot, or take the bus- I use a wheeled shopping cart, obviously I will not be able to do this for a while after surgery- pulling, pushing, even with the cart the groceries have weight- milk, potatoes, bottled water. I have addressed this with my medical team and they are shrugging it off- replying "we'll see after the surgery how you are doing" I feel that preparation should be now... and I should know what exactly, my insurance covers in terms of a CNA, provider etc. I also have myelopathy but it is in my upper body.

A year later, wondering how it went. I just had L3,4,5 majorly reconstructed +6 other back procedures (8hr srg.) and pre- purchased a months groceries beforehand. Lonely healing w just my sweet dog. Hard getting rides to F/u doc visits although brought these and tasks I'm not allowed to do up Prior to surgery like you did. Effected my psyche on top of the incredible physical pain and fear of future VS. Want to have hope now for an able body. I'm in week 6 now! Still not allowed to lift 5lbs or bend. I move like a robot, caught up on all Netflix , hulu and Prime! Wish I could vaccum and lift around here!! Cant even use the time to get things done.! Hope things turned good for you in the end.
I wish the system listened more.

@@juney18 I’m reading this much later and am curious if your pain is better or worse after surgery. I also had a lumbar fusion S1-L5 I think? They called it a double fusion and they went through my stomach and my back. Left me with a massive scar in front and back. They also had to decompress a pinched nerve. I’m a very rare case in that I developed full-body CRPS afterwards. I don’t hear a lot of positive stories after surgery and was quite curious to know how you’re getting on now? Thanks, and wishing you best of health always.
