i actually recently learned psychiatrists largely agree that there are 5 responses: fight flight freeze fawn and flop/faint! fawning is a common one for abuse victims too, to go along with and try to appease the aggressor in a situation

This is such an old tale in the ballet world. This is not at all new. I am glad these women are suing these people. I can't believe this poor naive woman who didn't think it can happen in the ballet world... It happens all the time, but dancers are terrible about reporting abuse. I never had any sexual abuse as a ballet student or dancer, but the verbal and mental abuses were always there, and normalized. I remember as a teenager, it was the first time dancing in a grown up role in the nutcracker, I was terrified of my teacher, and I started to cry... One of the company dancers told me it's ok, she cries everyday. Even as a kid, I knew that wasn't ok. I never danced with my teacher professionally, and I never told her why. I went on to dance with other companies and eventually becoming a nurse. The dance world is all kinds of crap if people dug deeper.

What's werid for me is that you would give someone your passwords and just go deeper and deeper into such an abusive exploitation. Good, she's there the victim. But from a European point of view, people tend to be much more reflected even as teenagers regarding the invasion of personal life.

What is so weird? There was a clear abuse of power from someone well known in the company, they lured her and offered help with her career. It is not uncommon to share your passwords with your team for social media management, they could be sweet as honey and then turn on her once they had enough to destroy her whole career, a career she's probably been training since she was a child. There's always people around trying to control you by first feigning interest in you as a friend to gain information about you that they can use to manipulate you. If you start to fight back, they'll convince your friends and family to believe whatever is being told to them instead of them trusting you, which you would expect. It's unbelievable that people will fall for it so easily. So, always be weary and on your guard. It's hard to undo the damage these types of people do.

One comment says parents need to keep a close eye on their children NO parents need to educate their children about these things ,, parents need to talk to their children,,, my son has always known that his private parts are PRIVATE and only himself ,myself and the doctor has the right if given to go there.... He knows and understands this as well as how he should treat his future girlfriends/ wife ,,,,
If parents can’t or won’t be honest with their children who is to blame when these things happen..... Help your children to be strong and stand up against this behaviour when confronted by it .... ❤️
