Great video! Thankyou. Couple tips, grease the seal rubber when you put it on and maybe to the ignition turn prime 6 or 7 times and should be good to go. Cheers again!
Glad it helped and Thanks for the Tips 👍🏽 I did the filter a couple of times in my ownership and usually it took 3-4 Times and it started up. Moving to ignition, only started the pump once or twice, you had to start it a few times to get it going.
@@noorshah96 nailed it! 🤩 definitely subscribing for the accent and the tips are an added perk 🤣👍🏻 this vid was a great help though, I’m learning to do these things myself on my GTC instead of running to the garage constantly and this really helped! Thanks dude 😁
@@claires2545 Much appreciated 🤝 That's how I started doing my own work top that no matter what car you drive, you end up having to go to garages the whole time so this definitely saves money and time.
Thanks 👍🏾 Yes, the 1.7 diesels do have the belt. I could be wrong so double check the manual for your specific model/engine but generally it's 100,000 or 6 Years for a timing belt change.
Can't get my filter housing off to change filter I've got 36 m socket but it's solid and I don't want to force it in case a break the housing, any tips
I know exactly what you mean. I was in that situation once. It's difficult to gauge if you're going to hard or not....but you have to somehow get a good solid grip on the housing above and then apply the torque so the whole thing is not moving. If I'm not mistaken, you can actually remove the housing form the frame as well.
@@noorshah96 Thanks. I have seen another similar video where the person bleeds the fuel system. Is it necessary to do this? Also is it necessary to disconnect the fuel line? Thanks for your quick response
@@kwaggapoot9834 Yeah I think I've seen it too but it doesn't make Sense to me to do that unless you are having issues or something is gone into the fuel tank. Filter element change should be enough to maintain the car. Hope it helps.
So, I tried to change my fuel filter today on my 60 plate Astra J 1.7CDTI, 10 litres of waisted diesel later and was still draining. I stopped at this point can you help me
Sorry to hear that mate and apologies couldn't get back earlier. I hope you have it sorted by now 🙂 but if you were to give a bit more detail maybe? I believe you might have taken the hoses off the filter housing? Which you don't have to unless need to change em.
Thanks! This one is for diesel, petrol might be different but generally the process would be similar once you find the location and the part. I hope you get sorted.
Wrong wrong and once again wrong. Don't recommend people to turn key few times ! This car doesn't have pre-pump system. Doing like that people will stuck with air bubbles in common rail system ! THE ONLY RIGHT WAY TO DO THIS IS TO UNPLUG FUEL CONNECTOR UNDER BONNET (BLUE COLOUR) AND CONNECT 10MM HOSE. YOU HAVE TO USE SUCTION PUMP OR EVEN OWN MOUTH TO SUCK DIESEL. OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE TURNING KEY FOREVER AND FINALLY INJECTORS WILL GET AIR BUBBLES. ONLY RIGHT WAY TO DO THIS FAST AND IN CORRECT MANNER IS DOING FUEL PRIMING.
@Luke Thanks for pointing it out. That's how I had seen it and did it this way. I have done it twice over the years and never had a problem. I believe there will be diesel in the fuel rail already no? The last time I did it, the car started in first or second go. I would ask people to report if they had any issues.
@noorshah96 A few days ago I bought the same car only in a station wagon, and now I need to replace all the consumables and the timing belt. I’ll replace all these consumables myself, but it won’t work with the belt, now I’m looking at different options on how to replace what. Your video helped me understand how to use the filter.
@@noorshah96 I have another question that worries me. With the engine running, I remove the oil filler cap and place it on the hole and it jumps as if from exhaust gases. I asked a question to local motor mechanics, some said that the engine is coming to an end, others say don’t worry about driving. So I wanted to find out if your lid behaves the same way or if it lies quietly on the neck? The EGR is in place and works as expected.
@@АлексейНикифоров-е5ч Oh great, congratulations on the new purchase 🤩 Glad it helped and best of luck with all the work. Do update us here with any tips later 🙏🏾
@@АлексейНикифоров-е5ч Oh, that's not a great sign when that happens. There's always some pressure expected coming out of the engine oil cap but not too much. Too much pressure indicates something called piston blow-by (I won't explain, please Google). There's also a short on my channel with a title "the new 2022 steam engine" 😅 where people have commented as well. Its not always the case either so please get a couple of more local mechanics to check to be a 100% sure before spending money. I don't have the car anymore so can't check for you to compare the pressure

good movie, everything is clearly shown bym I would like to add that if someone has an Astra from 2010, the fuel system is vented manually.😁
Thanks for the good comment and the info. 👍🏾
How do you know if a car has an uplift pump or like this Astra (vented manually)?
@@mbz4652 because I had the Astra from 2010 and I know that these years do not have a fuel pump.
How is it vented? Whats vented mean? Thanks.
I believe they mean to bleed the air out or prime the fuel system with fuel before starting the engine
very informative. thanks

Is this the same process for Astra 1.4 petrol and the same size of filter?
I don't have personal experience but I'm pretty sure it's very different. Probably a metal one.
When taking out the first nut , when the fuel starts draining , does it stop eventually?
Oh it does stop eventually 😁 It's only the fuel present in the filter and the housing
