I love old books ❤ But I only admire them in my shelf or hands, not reading them, and if, only for a short time so I don't accidentally break them (even more). And reading them, in this old german font, is actually very hard.
Your parents have some interesting books and really nice editions. Mostly hardcovers, it seems. Are they collecting them?
    I like those two poems.
Erich Maria Remarque is very popular here in Germany. Everyone knows at least the title of this book. A lot of us need to read it in school (I don't, sadly. I read it a few years ago and LOVED it. I was actually surprised, that it was no biography, rather a novel based of a lot of true things. He suffered from this wrong marketing, i was reading in the appendix).
I've read Gogols "A night before christmas" 3 months ago, and really enjoyed it. Stil have a book with other stories here and I will read it soon. But the translation is not as lovely as in the first book 😅
I also loved "The little prince".
1:11:52 these are genuinly beautiful editions ❤
Thank you for putting so much effort into this video ❤

It was very enjoyable to see your parents’ library and hear your descriptions of some of the books. My parents had no library but I latched on to books very early and by the time I was five years old I always had a book with me wherever I went. I had no brothers or sisters, so books were my companions. I still have a few of my favorite childhood books, but space is very limited so I’ve purged my library several times over the years. It always grows again, though.

Im Westen nichts Neues by Remarque is (was?) really popular in Germany! I wish I hadn't given up on trying to learn Russian, it's such a beautiful language. Lovely book collection!

It was interesting to see the collection of Russian and international novels on those shelves.
I can recommend F. Scott Fitzgerald, who wrote my favorite book _The Great Gatsby._ I used to visit his and his wife’s grave when I lived nearby.
Of the Russian authors, I just have Anton Chekhov - two volumes of short stories and _The Cherry Orchard._ I liked those stories quite a lot.

I wouldn't say that my family are huge readers. My parents have always been very busy people and they mostly read when they are on holidays, my brother and I not the biggest readers either, but we did always read, just not enormous amounts. When we were little our parents always read us bedtime stories though! And I loved it. I think it's such a good practice.

What a treat to see your parent's library! The books are so beautifully bound, especially the Fitzgerald books! Even though I love classics best, I think the Sci-fi books sound interesting. What a beautiful collection. Lots of authors I have never heard of. I also loved seeing the icons on the shelves. My MIL (who is Irish) and I (English, French-Canadian and Mohawk) haven't a drop of Russian or Eastern European blood in us, but we both have beautiful Russian icons in front of our books too, on the bookshelves. My larger ones are on the walls. That old icon painting is gorgeous!! Yes, my large icon is also painted on wood! I love Ray Bradbury and Dandelion Wine is my favourite. I read it every summer! Thank you for this wonderful video! We all have the same taste in reading!! xxx

I got a few of Ivan Efremov's novels (the sci-fi author) because I also find what I heard about his novels really fascinating. He was an archeologist too that's why a few of his novels are set in ancient times like Thais of Athens. So I'm excited to explore his writing.
I love our icons too. I got myself a few and brought them to Japan. So happy to have them here with me.
I haven't re-read Dandelion Wine in a long while even though I remember that I absolutely adored it when I read it back in school. Need to re-read it for sure :)
      I hope you're having a great day :)
