0:56 Shouldn't the points in the sector be A, O, and A, since the circle wraps around back to the same point? Wouldn't the sector A, O, B only be half of the lateral area of a cone

Thank you, very helpful explain of a cone. I needed the Theta simbol to solve and finally got what i wanted to get the shape of the surfaces. Thankful to you :)
Note that if you measure in _radians_ instead of degrees, theta = (arc length / arc radius) = (2*pi * r) / l, making it simpler to form the equation for lateral surface area and arrive at the answer. E.g: lateral surface area = 2pi * l^2 * (theta / full circle) = 2pi * l^2 * (2*pi*r/l radians) / (2*pi radians) = 2pi * l^2 * r/l = 2pi * l * r
@Reena - The Greek letter, θ, commonly used to represent an angular measurement/variable. Because trying to type letters outside your native keyboard is super annoying.

The label on the video is incorrect. Arc AB is half the circumference if AB is a diameter. What you meant to say is that the sector goes from point A around the circumference back to point A, An animation showing the unwrapping of the cone would show that.
I like that each and every term is clearly explain. While explaining red colour marker used was good means student can easily understand the parts. step wise and diagrammatical representation helps to long term effect on memorisation. Handwriting shown in video is appropriate.Nice video to clear concept how to calculate curved surface area and length of arc.
AB are labeled such that the line segment AB forms a diameter across the base. Yet, arc AB forms a... full circle? ABA or BAB, maybe. But AB is only half a circle.
+Ritesh - NEVER UNIFORM, thank you for your question. These two videos will help you understand why: Length of an Arc - th-cam.com/video/v-ZV_jMumFE/w-d-xo.html Area of the Sector - th-cam.com/video/7f9_U85_YX4/w-d-xo.html
look at it as a fraction of the whole circle, imagine the angle theta is 90 degrees so it would become one quarter of the circle, or 180 degrees so it become 1/2 of the circle then calculate it. 90/360 or 180/360 or 30/360.
Annotations are wrong in one of the two figures.... A-B forms semicircular perimeter of cone's base circle so length of AB (in 2nd figure) should be πr. OR opening whole curve surface it will be Arc A-A

This is why I love India. The people there are so smart.
@Minchangas says the person with no life
@Minchangas Woah there buddy, that's very stereotypical. Maybe you should watch what you say.
@Minchangas I am referring to the no - life as having most free time on the world . Sorry I commented late cuz I have a "life" unlike you.
@Minchangas I am busy cuz I work hard and I don't understand how being indian makes you scammer anyways being scammer is better than being racist
@Minchangas I do extra work and I top in exams so check your facts
I wish if the teachers of my school could explain so well..
Your right
Yes
sure sis...
Okk
That is the situation, even teachers are not efficient. Their base is so weak yet they bribe and get the job. 😂 Corruption. 👍🏻

Surface area= pie x radius x slant height + pie x radius square(r2) this is way more easier than the one in the video.
s why i dont know they did this much calculation the logical way is so easy as u have said
I DIDN'T GOT WHY YOU DIVIDED THETA BY 360, can u explain it to me?
+Ritesh - NEVER UNIFORM, thank you for your question. These two videos will help you understand why:
Length of an Arc - th-cam.com/video/v-ZV_jMumFE/w-d-xo.html
Area of the Sector - th-cam.com/video/7f9_U85_YX4/w-d-xo.html
look at it as a fraction of the whole circle, imagine the angle theta is 90 degrees so it would become one quarter of the circle, or 180 degrees so it become 1/2 of the circle then calculate it. 90/360 or 180/360 or 30/360.

Next time could you make a question with answers??. It would really be helpfull. Hope you are seeing this comment
Annotations are wrong in one of the two figures....
A-B forms semicircular perimeter of cone's base circle so length of AB (in 2nd figure) should be πr.
OR
opening whole curve surface it will be Arc A-A
thats right
