I always get the same feelings about clutter around the holidays. This year I intentionally put up less decor just to try to eliminate that feeling. Inevitably though, yesterday I was feeling like there was too much clutter so I reorganized my closet, made a box of donations and a box of things to sell and I completely emptied and removed a clothing storage shelf in my room!! My bedroom feels light and airy now! I’m so proud of myself!
Wow, that's amazing - great job!!
I have my mom's old xmas ornaments from Soviet Union. They are so stunning, but so delicate 🥲
I'm a Marxist Leninist. ❤
Wow!
I had a huge tub of Christmas items I no longer was using. A local church was asking for Christmas items so I donated all of it to them!! They were overjoyed!! I was too because I got rid of it!!🥰
That is awesome, Ann!!
@AnnEaton-xj6ic, What a lovely way 2 share in the season of giving ❤!!
Glass ornaments are beautiful in a bowl. My cat would break them on the tree, but this way I can enjoy them. Add a few sprigs of greens, too.
Love the idea of adding some greens!
@sherrydiana-eu6qz, 😍 that idea!! Cat mama here 😽!! New thrifting goal: find glass ornaments for 🎄2025 😉😆!!
@KathleenMcGettigan Good luck, should be lots in sale after Christmas. Meowy Christmas!
I inherited glass ornaments from my grandma and my husband's grandma. While many are scratched here or there, and we have definitely broken some, I love them and all their unique colors and designs. To keep them safe, I created my own ornament bin (similar to the one recently posted by Cass at Clutterbug, but with shorter cups that I cut to size myself).
That's a great idea! And your ornaments sound amazing ☺
Ha ha, before seeing this video this morning I decluttered my pantry. Half empty boxes of stale cereal, crackers, etc and expired foods. Great video!
Oh my gosh, we’re on the same wavelength - I also decluttered my pantry this morning of a bunch of stale cereal and cracker boxes! Love it 😊
This year I only hung round glass ornaments. I loved how the tree looked after.
Sounds beautiful!
For MANY years now, my "Important mail" that is always on my kitchen counter goes into two nice Christmas decorated boxes! They look nice on my counter and when Christmas is over my important mail is still on the counter! Ha! hidden in plain sight! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
The tree is beautiful.
Thank you so much! ☺
You always have great advice! I love my glass Christmas ornaments too! Have fun baking cookies with your daughter! It’s one of my fondest childhood Christmas traditions & memories. 🎄❤️
I never had kids, but I loved making Christmas cookies with my mom when I was growing up. Frosting the sugar cookies, rolling gingersnap dough into balls and dipping them in sugar, whipping egg whites for meringue cookies. She would bake for a whole month before Christmas, and we both loved every minute of it!
Thank you so much, Julie!! ❤☺
Wonderful advice for the holidays. I enjoyed this video. 😊❤
Thank you so much! ❤
That brick wall is gorgeous.
Thank you so much!!
Did my entry while I was listening. Thank you!
Love it!
Thank you for this great advice! ❤
You're so welcome! 😊
Thank you! Happy Holidays.
Happy Holidays to you too! 😊
Great advice this time of year. Would love to see a video for the New Year for areas that may need decluttering...my basement aka the dumping ground comes to mind. Your videos inspire me to get to work on it.
Great idea, thank you so much!!
I will declutter all of my plastic ornaments this year and obly keeping the glass ones. I live in an european country and glass ornaments used to ve the norm. I noticed they get very hard to find these days. We bought some last year from a chrostmas pop up shop and I have some I bougjt from a grocery store over 10 years ago (from a grocery store can you imagine real glass ornaments)
You are right - the glass is so hard to find! I do still have some plastic ones - my kids still knock a lot of them off the tree! ☺
@ I just found out that the ones I bought last year were not glass. Now I doubt the other ones 😭 but from the other ones one shatteret one time and it looked like glass but Idk 😅
Edit: some of them from last year are glass and some are not.
Enjoy your posts.
Thank you so much!
Chocolate chips make good hot cocoa. Just melt some over low heat, add whatever kind of milk you like, and that's it. You don't need any other ingredients.
Yum!
Ty😊
I started decluttering seriously in 2020. At that time, I had 8 bins of Christmas decorations. I vowed that I would pare down one bin each year. I now have four bins and it's much more manageable.
Amazing!
Thanks for great video
You are so welcome!
My entryway could use a little work with making it tidy. The rest is pretty good... I just need to keep cleaning!
You are doing great!
Funny! Did my pantry last week
Love it!
Great tips! Are you putting flour into large glass jars? I never know how to properly store it. I leave in the bag and put it into a ziplock bag to seal it. But it looks awful on the shelf and the bags get messy too. What do you recommend?
Yes! I have these large anchor hocking glass jars, and they perfectly fit a 5 pound bag of flour :)
Great tips.
Just curious, why do people in the US say Happy Holidays & not just Happy/Merry Christmas? What holidays do they mean? (A holiday in the UK is a vacation.)
Hanukkah and Kwanza are both holidays that people can be referring to.
I think because there are so many holidays here that people are celebrating! Happy Holidays covers everything :)
I want to find order after the chaos. I'm slowly getting there.
You can do it!
Don’t be discouraged. It took me the last 4 yrs to get through my entire house. Actually just this week I finished going through our last paper file box and our safety deposit box. ( 2 black trash bags of recycled paper and one of shredded paper) so be kind to yourself. It takes time and remember decision fatigue is real, I had to take breaks. Wishing you well, I am so relieved and free now. Keep the memories and lose the stuff.
Oh, you poor thing. You have a tiny pantry. I have a closet pantry that’s 6 by 8 feet. But, it’s ripe for clutter. lol
I love your videos but those of us who are not 20 or 30 but may live in a studio or one bedroom, your idea of decluttering is not very helpful as we cannot move things to other rooms.
