Linia Dedoldia is one of the new characters in Mushoku Tensei season 2, and along with Pursena, forms part of the beast tribe delinquent due at the Ranoa Magic University. In this video I talk about who Linia is as a character, her past, her relationship with Rudeus and later Eris, and what happens to her later in the story. This is a full spoiler video that covers everything involving Linia in the whole Mushoku Tensei light novel series, as well as an analysis of her character and what she adds to the cast. Pursena is my favorite of the two.

An interesting interaction between Linia and Pursena that give an insight into their character comes within a certain aspect of interaction they have with Rudeus.
During Rudeus' ED arc, Linia often sexually teases him in ways such as presenting her thighs, lifting her skirt a little and even proposing they get together. These, though, are done in jest as she perceives Rudy as perverted yet harmless. This is because, as deviant as Rudy seems, not a whiff of sexual arausal is ever emitted; although, it still catches her off guard with how casually he does respond positively to her invitations/provocations.
It somehow turns to a sort of playful banter between them that she initiates.
Pursena, on the other hand, always keeps her distance from this Rudues and keeps a disinterested attitude towards him.
However, this dynamic changes once Rudeus gets cured from his ED. The roles reverse, with Linia suddenly keeping her distance, is reserved and no longer provoking him while Pursena turns more receptive. They change places, with Linia on the outside, away from Rudeus, while Pursena sits closer/next to him - something I hope the anime shows once it happens.
I wonder why Pursena come closer to Rudy when he turns sexually "dangerous" again.
Perhaps I should save this for the Pursena video you'll eventually make, but I still think she got railroaded by the village. She's out healing all day because she's the only person in the village that knows healing magic, and burns through her mana and as a result passes out and sleeps through dinner. She wakes up, likely famished due to not eating and burning through her mana, but isn't given anything to eat because she missed dinner and eating outside of meal times is a big no-no. But not only that, they immediately put her on guard duty... to guard the food. She is the first person to admit what she did was wrong and made no excuses for it (despite having every reason in the world), and surprisingly restrained herself to taking only what would have been her share, but regardless is arrested and treated like an enemy of the state. I honestly felt horrible for her here.
My favorite Linia moment is when she sneaks into Rudeus’s bed with plans of becoming his next wife to get out of working off her debt. When Rudeus shows up he picks her up and drops her outside of his bedroom door. Linia starts banging on his door when Sylphy comes out of her room and tells her to be quite. I think I remembered that right.
I wanna see Eris bringing home a cat only for it to be Linia and she and rudy would meet eye to eye and just go "eh?" "ehh?" "ehhh?!" like that 1 Horimiya scene 😭

When I read Eris and the cat, I took it as more of a live hug pillow than a sex partner. I could be wrong.

Eris knew how sex obsessed Rudy is and didn't want him to do without. Which, bearing in mind the Boreas males treatment of beast women, is culturally acceptable.
Rudy didn't want to upset his 3 wife bliss and wisely demurred.

good take on Linia, she's one of the real stars of the series, unappreciated, abused, and only truly appreciated once Aisha is forced to treat her as a partner. though it only comes to full light in redundant, Linia's only fault is being normal, like Norn, and no doubt any turmoil in the house was the result of bad behavior from the Greyrats.
ugh nice powerwash of Rudeus' behavior and thoughts. he exponentially inflates her debt (helping turn a 20 gold swindle debt into 2000+ to reward for death-deserving-sex-slaver-scum as even Eris knows). the subsequent abuse of the bestkin under his care is no less Rudeus' superfail especially given the fact that beastkin are totally subservient to power. (i threw the LN to floor after reading that repulsive shit and it almost made me a MT hater for life.)

That's been a problem with acoustics since I moved, I think by tampering with my set-up I've fixed it for the new video, but it was unrelated to being sick.
The author really about not characters left behind. I do like Linia but still lean a bit more towards Pursena.

When watching Season 1 of Jobless Reincarnation, I really enjoyed the Beastkin village in the few episodes it featured.
I am sure that there would have been more context in the Light Novels that was skipped in the Anime.
I find it funny Eris allowed Rudy to get with Linia while she was pregnant, such a missed opportunity to have cute cat children, wonder what would happen to them, it would be really hilarious to see Cat Rudues xD
Eris is never mentioned having any sort of sexual interaction or attraction to Linia, as far as I remember. It's always about hugging her in bed, etc, and it's mentioned she does she same with Leo. So basically she likes having a fluffy body pillow.
I also think Rudeus mentions he suspects it was Linia who convinced Eris to offer her to him because she was pregnant and couldn't have sex with him and felt she was letting him down. You might even say she manipulated Eris' frustration/guilt to make herself the fourth wife to wipe away her debt.

Linia is the member of the duo I like best. Purina and her food or bum humor I just do not like as much. Plus Linia we get more characterization.
I never caught that Eris saw them as concubines. I had misunderstood the pair as just liking to get petted like the animal halfs but with Eris's monster strength they were terrified of her.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t remember reading anywhere that Linia and Ghislaine ever crossed paths despite being related and having several common acquaintances.
I'm not sure they ever did in the story off the top of my head, though I seem to remember Linia knowing all about her so either she was born before Ghislaine left the village so knew her when she was a little kid (remember Linia is a few years older than Rudy) or she's just basing that on stories her family told.

The „concubines“ part should not be taken seriously all that is mentioned is that Eris uses them as pillows everything aside from that is just pointless headcanon not to mention Rudeus isn’t the type to let his wives have sexual activities with other women just cause they are woman
People are generally divided on this, personally I took it as something that actually happened, though I've only read the web novel version of that part so it may have been put across differently in the LNs. I think in Eris' case he actually would allow it, given her thing for beast people being a Boreas Greyrat thing, and not her being romantically interested in them, plus the fact he can't really keep up with her in bed...
@@NatalieXHunter Eris gets „excited“ by all beast‘s/beastmen so to say one example would be the cat she was reading about or the owl the miko possessed. Rudeus is also clearly joking each time saying he is part of her harem or that she is the husband. Rudeus can‘t keep up with her is the same as Roxy and Sylphie not being able to keep up with Rudeus, so in short that doesn’t mean they’re sexually not satisfied another thing is Eris being embarrassed/shy when it comes down to such things and some examples would be the 3some Rudeus proposed with Sylphie which she had rejected and also her being reluctant when it comes down to having the 4some, one more thing is Eris wouldn’t show the same affection she shows to Rudeus to anyone else and lastly I feel like you‘ve been mislead cause the community/people definitely are not divided when it comes down to this cause this exact same topic was talked about in a Reddit post long time ago and got a lot of attention and 90% of the replies were of the opinion that there is nothing sexual between Eris and the pets and these are all people who‘ve read the WN/LN many times and over

Pursena hitting Rudeus with chicken legs last week almost bumped Linia down a notch. But not quite.
Linia has become my new favorite character since she was introduced. I'm looking forward to seeing her fleshed out.
As the series goes on what I like most about her is her sense of honor and her stupidity in trying to execute the honor. She's got enough depth that later on I'm never sure if her arrogant exclamations are genuine or her just playing cute. However later on it feels like she's understanding more of what's going on around her than she lets on.
She is plenty fleshed out already. That is why Rudy is so grabby 😂

Any plans to make a video about what's to come with Badigadi and Geese in the next couple LN volumes? We're getting close to the finale and it's almost time to start milking that cow.
I'm pretty sure that won't be discussed for along time. G won't be until Vol 16-ish (Est. late season 3 if they want to adapt the extra chapter) and B won't be mentioned again after the second cour until Vol 23 (Est. Late season 4). Might not be any milking of those for a long time lol. Unless she'd like to make some more character summaries of their entire lives including spoilers? :D
