My personal "investment strategy" for speed champions is to collect one good example of each 8-wide car.
Good stickers, no missing pieces, no fading, etc... All my sets are out of the box and built since I get a lot of value out of displaying them. I saved the boxes and instructions when available although some of my used sets didn't come with any.
The last set I need to complete my 8-wide collection is the Lamborghini Urus & Huracán set. Once I have all the retired sets, the new sets should be more affordable in comparison. I'll continue to collect new sets as they come out and once I've had my fun I'll sell the whole collection together
What you've described is one of the best things about LEGO collecting in general. You can open sets, enjoy them, gain value, and then get nearly all your money back once you decide to sell them. I do have a small personal collection since I'm a Speed Champs fan, but I also purchase loads of them for my investing business.

Great video! I think though the theme is a bit more evergreen, so not sure the impact will be as severe on retired sets when they discontinue the theme than what some folks think.
6:55 How do you get the impression that people are becoming dissatisfied with Speed Champions? I've only heard people rave about this theme, and I don't think that is due to bias on my side. Or are you sayinjg that people might become dissatisfied solely due to the increased price? I think we've all come to expect that things are getting ever more expensive. I don't see that having a significant impact on the popularity of this theme.
I think that was in reference to the continued price increases to Speed Champions NOT the theme specifically.
What about for next year sets of 2025?

@@zeppie2002 I totally understand that, I have a complete 8 wide collection including the 8 wide Ecto-1, Delorian, Batmobile, & Jurassic Park Jeep. As much as I hated buying a few of the sets, it’s worth it for the complete collection. You just have to trick yourself that it’s an “investment” lol.
for the 2 speed champions sets that might not be retireing and might be just buy it from the stores and just return it if it doesnt retire
You made no mention or showed the Nissan skyline was that on purpose to not drive attention to that set one that is sure to make money over a lot of other going forward not to mention still available
Big picture, I agree with that assessment. It sure sells a heck of a lot in terms of sales volume. Big benefitor of Paul Walker and F&F memes too going forward.
I do not believe Speed Champions "Theme" will cease production any time soon, and I do believe it is still possible for them to continue picking up new fan base as it is based on Forza Horizon cars. Forza Horizon isn't going anywhere, and continues to gain popularity.
According to Statista: Open-world racing game Forza Horizon 5 was an instant hit on release in November 2021, accumulating 4.5 million players on its launch day and 10 million players within its first week. As of May 2023, Forza Horizon 5 reported 30 million players worldwide.

I have 2 questions.
1: what do you think, is the aston martin set also good investment in eastern europe? Or is it too related to the english speaking countries because of the Bond movies and only popular in those areas?
2: Is it a good plan to gather Dodge Chargers among with 76917 Skylines and wait until the Skyline will retire later and sell it as a Fast and Furious Pack? Or this "pack" idea doesnt boost anything?
The "pack" is a good idea to sell when the 1970 Dodge is 3 years retired and the R34 Skyline 2 years retired, so probably in 2025-6.
How well does the DB5 sell in your region of the world? If it sells near or above MSRP, then I would consider investing in that.

Speed Champions only started in 2015. You're saying they are over supplied and not worth investing into? You couldn't be more incorrect. In 5-10 years from now, these sets will 5, maybe even 10x in value.
Speed Champions now is like buying Star Wars lego in the 90s.
Don't listen to this dude saying its oversupplied so itll never go up. His looking for a quick 2x. If you buy one or two cars from speed champions a week and do this for the next 2-3 years, you will look back when the prices go way up and you'll be glad you bought them.
Many of the 2015-2019 Speed Champions sets have gone up 400-800% in value and early Speed Champions suffered from low quality, non licensed cars / sets.
This is the golden age of Speed Champions. You should be buying.

Well said. I think this is the last year we can get $16 speed champions, therefore the last year it's basically free money as all of them seem to appreciate to $30 per car at a minimum after 2 years.

Please just don´t invest in Lego its a kids toy not a money investment. Lego is there to play with not to invest in. Lego is already so expensive with your "investments" the prices will go up even more and kids maybe wont be able afford them anymore.
Do you understand supply and demand? I'm not depriving today's children of the opportunity to buy the sets they want. LEGO has such widespread distribution that'd be impossible. I'm looking to sell to future buyers who get into the hobby in 2026 or 2027 and never had the chance to grab sets released in 2023. The more people like me who store copies of those sets for the future, the greater the supply, and the lower the future price will be. Any set I buy near retirement has been on shelves for 1-2 years or even longer, so today's fans have had ample opportunity to grab it.
