I just started getting into the CDL last year. I never thought watching an e-sport would be anything comparable to a “real” sport. The first match I saw had Maven & MerK casting. I was blown away by how good they were. They are as good as any professional sport broadcasting duo there is. They legitimized the sport to me.
Have watching this stuff for like 10 years or more, i never really thought about how the casters could legitimize it for people that are just coming in. Glad you enjoyed it a year ago and continued to watch

Maven is one of the best commentators. always keeps us intrigued in watching especially with his personality. they need to get rid of the chick and studyy and save money from the commentators that arent even good. cdl is so money hungry and thats all they care about. not even the quality. these people that are running everything just arent educated on esports and how it works.
Maven was the best at hyping up the the big matches esp on main stage. Him with Courage or MrX were some of my fav casting duo's. I actually didn't mind Study with his competitive insight & I've noticed he's improved a lot especially this season. Yeh it seems CDL are about the $$ over quality castors, as long they know some cod basics and are really polite
Mavin is smart and such a people person. He deserves much more but I’m glad he’s back and hope he gets his recognition and respect on more of the political side in the future. They’re failing him and themselves by not giving him a spotlight to grow and earn more.
I absolutely adore Maven, and in extension Merk. There were incredible casters before them and it sure as shit will be after but this era we're in right now is soo good. (minus the state of the game/s). Call of Duty and it's community have been a breeding ground for TOP TOP streamers. Half of the Optic crew back in the day were LITERALLY the pioneers of gaming on TH-cam. Let that sink in. Optic, Faze, Hutch and his circle with Seannanners, Fwiz etc etc etc are all the reason we have the space we have now. So it is annoying as a spectator looking in and seeing Activision not realizing the gold mine they have and how much more we have to offer both esports and gaming. Nearly letting Maven is crazy. Not properly funding the Challenger scene is CRAZY. No proper Warzone in-game cups and -actuall- tournaments is CRAZY.
Interesting hearing about Maven liking those books. I would've loved to hear what he thinks about Brandon Sanderson's Kickstarter and his reaction to it.

personally ive never understood why the CDL doesnt just hire merk and maven full time as the only casting team. i would listen to those 2 guys cast every single match for the entire year and love it. i could honestly care less about the other casting teams, they dont do much for me. it would save the CDL a bunch of money because instead of paying 8 different people to cast matches, you only have to pay 2 people.
