    That has to be one of the quickest 100 miles you’ve done in a shoe from recent memory. Only 3 weeks since you did your first run

    1st wet run in these today. They really do soak up a lot of water and don’t drain. Feet sloshing & squelching the whole time. Will save for dry days only.

    Great video and completely agree! Torrent 2 is my favourite trail shoe of the year, and very good on snow and ice also, I have discovered the last weeks! The upper is very comfortabel, the midsole both soft but responsive and the rubber lugs amazing. So if SL-20 is my favourite roadshoe of the year Torrent 2 is my 2020 trailshoe. We agree on both! Doesnt matter if my feet get wet in the Torrent 2, I just have a happy smile on my face when running in them! 😃👍

    It's a fast trail shoe, that's for sure. Race a trail half marathon in the torrent v1 last January and they are wonderful. Except the v1's upper is a disaster when mud gets them. too stretchy and unstable after covered in mud. I don't know if I'd take them to a trail full marathon, though.
    Also, I don't think it's a hybrid shoe. They are smooth on soft ground and trails, but they feel clunky and slapping the ground too much on roads and concrete. I just didn't enjoy them in basically hard surfaces.

    solid shoe. I have been in and out of sense rides and this, finally settling on the torrent. I have gore version of speedgoats for winter hikes. These really are great and not too cushiony for bigger runners too. lacing can be an issue at times for me. runs true to size as i found innov8 to run short and returned promptly.

      I am about 100 in my torrent 2’s as well. Very comfortable good fit . I think great for trail but not too much support/protection for the technical/rocky trail (rolled my ankle In them )I love these shoes but will likely get a speed goat for the harder trails .good review

    • @richardhkirkando
      @richardhkirkando 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really like both, but I think the Torrent is a bit more versatile - the main reason being that I don't like the feel of the Speedgoat's lugs on pavement, but I don't notice it on the Torrent. I've taken both on some pretty gnarly trails, and felt that both have had sufficient grip for me. The Torrent is a bit faster and more responsive up to 10-15 miles, but any longer than that and I'll take the Speedgoat's cushion every time.

    Kofuzi - would be interested in your review if the Salomon Sense Ride our Sense Pro trail shoes. I think they would be better hybrid shoes than the Torrent, if that’s what you’re looking for. I have been running in the Torrent 1 but mostly trail, for which I think they were mainly intended. I still have the original Sense Ride and still love it! Haven’t tried the latest Salomon shoes that I mentioned but believe they are worth a try.

  • @aaronleeman-smith9730
    @aaronleeman-smith9730 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Probably my next purchase. I'm hoping that despite the lack of rock plate it can take me up to 50km on my local (semi-technical) trails.

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i feel like the rock would have to hit you juussst right for it to hurt your foot. i think the placement of the lugs works well to prevent rock issues

    • @jackash1975
      @jackash1975 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To me, it is the size of the rock that matters. If the midsole can collapse around the rock, i usually dont feel it. However, if the rock is larger than the midsole is able to absorb, i feel it. In the Torrent, jagged rocks larger than 1.25" give me trouble.

    • @aaronleeman-smith9730
      @aaronleeman-smith9730 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jackash1975 - thanks for the specifics. Where i run there are a lot of rocks that don't weather and i'm feeling their jaggedness. This is also perhaps compounded by the fact that most of my trail shoes are into the second half of their lives and the fizz has mostly disappeared. While not wanting to sacrifice stability i'm also keen for my next trail shoe to have sufficient midsole foam at the forefoot, as this is where the rocks are felt. Hence they need to be lowish drop to achieve this - such as the Torrent 2 or Inov8 Terraultra.
      Sidenote: I also believe that that ability to collapse around a 'looseish' rock also helps to maintain some grip in a way that a more rigid midsole couldn't achieve. I've use my Rincons plenty of times on buffed out trails with occasional chunks and it seems to support this theory nicely.

    I think TORRENT 2 has excellent lightness, cushioning and flexibility.

    How would you compare the cushion to the Cliftons you've been running in? The Clifton's have been my daily trainer and almost snagged a pair of Torrents but thought they wouldn't have quite enough cushion. Thanks for the video.

    • @andresmith528
      @andresmith528 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are cushioned fairly well but not to the extent of a Clifton or Rincon. If you want that Clifton feel the ATR Challenger 5 is a good option. Don't be good for highly technical trails but works for your standard trail running. I actually find that shoe to be much better than the Torrents against the elements. The Torrent though is such a smooth ride for being a trail shoe. The SpeedGoats are Hokas true trail shoe and far more cushioned than the torrents but they are also very heavy and they have a more narrow fit although they do sell a wide version. If you aren't doing rough trails and are looking for a Clifton type ride I recommend the Challenger. Same price as Torrents i believe

    No rock plate+no toe cap+exposed midsole foam+questionably durable outsole rubber=a shoe built to go fast on super buffed out trails. Give it a rock plate & vibram rubber and I'm in. It just doesn't work in a wide array of terrains.
