  • Mehmed I, otherwise known as Mehmed Chalabi, was the fifth sultan of the Ottoman Empire. He was born in 1373 and died in 1421. He ruled from 1413 to 1421.
    Muhammad Chalabi was the son of Sultan Bayezid I and Sultan Maryam Hatush. He was the brother of Sultan Suleiman bin Bayezid I and Sultan Isa bin Bayezid I.
    After the death of his father at the Battle of Ankara in 1402, Muhammad Chalabi came into conflict with his brothers over the throne. He managed to defeat his brothers and became the sultan in 1413.
    Muhammad Chalabi was a powerful sultan who made many conquests. He regained the lands lost by his father in the Battle of Ankara, and conquered many new cities in the Balkans and Greece.
    Muhammad Chalabi also carried out many administrative and military reforms. He created a new system of financial management, and reformed the Ottoman army.
    Muhammad Chalabi died in 1421, and his son Murad II succeeded him.
    Muhammad Chalabi is one of the most important Ottoman sultans. He was responsible for re-establishing the Ottoman Empire after the Battle of Ankara, and made several conquests that paved the way for the expansion of the Ottoman Empire in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
