Not sure if it'll help you studying wise, but I was a nursing student also and went through a period where I couldn't figure out how to study right. Eventually I figured it out and nailed the rest of my classes with A's and B's. Basically, print out the power points and write only what the teacher says during lecture on that power point. Then after that class, create your outline (or before) and then use that outline to focus on readings in the book. For the outline, I actually usually used the power points to guide what I studied, so I'd go through and write nearly verbatim what it on the power points, to my outline. Then take the outline, and start reading the book. Use the outline to help guide exactly what you need to read (I felt like before the outline, I'd hyper focus on irrelevant stuff, the outline helps you focus on exactly what the teacher wants you to focus on because you took it from the power points). By reading, you're adding in that extra level of knowledge needed. Any new bit of information from the book, write on the outline. After studying the outline, go back and look at what the teacher said and write it on the outline also but in a different color. Seems like a quite a bit of work, but by adding these layers, and focusing on these three bits of information, you are basically going over the information three times and retain it so much better. I know your classes are quick, but there are ways to speed things out. For example, the outline, when you get the power points to download/print, change the layout and put it in the outline format. you should consider therapy! its the best thing I ever did. I'm also someone who ignores my problems and one day I had a full panic attack because of it. holding stuff in and not processing is so unhealthy. just my 2 cents though haha
