This is ridiculous! Does Chief Justice Roberts honestly think if he continues to ignore this it will just go away? The country is losing all faith and trust in this court. What happens then?

This flag issue is a footnote but it shows that there is an Authoritarian movement and it reaches the highest levels of power in the US. We already knew that though

Alito has repeatedly shown he is unfit to serve on SCOTUS. However he is there. He should recuse rom cases that ahow a conflict of interest . He has flipped off the law in the USA and he is anything but supreme.

He is bought and paid for, in addition to explicitly supporting an insurrection. He SHOULD have been impeached and removed long ago.

Since Americans pledge allegiance to our Flag it is a sacred object. Flying it upside-down is ALWAYS a sign of extreme disloyalty NOT any right to freedom of expression.

I try not to be dismissive, but is the core of the story here that supreme court justices have biases and political views? I actually like to know people's biases, especially if they are making judgements.
My suggestion is we should stop pretending that the supreme court hasn't always been a political institution full of people with biases and agendas and act like grown-ups and deal with the situation.
I think pretending like people can somehow be these neutral actors acting on principle is idealistic naive thinking. If we accepted the fact that these guys are political actors then we could regulate them like other political actors.
I think we should be rotating out justices just like any other politician. Probably with a longer term, but these lifetime appointments with basically unquestionable power comes from the facade that they are not politically motivated and have some special ability to make principled judgements.

In a normal country this would get Alito impeached

In a normal country, Joe Biden would be impeached for his corruption, letting an American citizen be tortured to death by Ukraine, blowing up cars full of children, persecuting his political opponent.

You are absolutely INCORRECT. You better hope, IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY HERE LEGALLY, that OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS HOLD UP IN OUR COURTS, period. If they don't work for the JUSTICES or PRESIDENTS, YOU STAND NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER WHEN THEY COME FOR YOU, democrat... And they absolutely plan on COMING FOR YOU and ME and EVERY AMERICAN THAT BELIEVES IN OUR CONSTITUTION. Wakey, wakey...

1). SCOTUS justices are appointed for life. 2). What exactly is a "normal country"? Maybe one that doesn't have freedom of speech/expression? 3). Impeached for what? Did he commit an actual crimez? No, he didn't . So kindly STFU!

It IS unacceptable that this is even making the "news", or that anyone that BELIEVES IN OUR 1st AMENDMENT RIGHTS, would be asked to RECUSE themselves because they LOVE THEIR COUNTRY. All those that wish OUR CONSTITUTION SHREDDED, should be DEPORTED to North Korea. Then YOU TOO can see what it is like to live under COMMUNISM....

This is a free speech issue. It might be objectionable and gross, but I believe this is free speech. I worry a lot more about the gifts that certain members have received without issue.

The only concerns i see is the fact he might have supported the jan 6 efforts. The justices have always been bias. We just forget they're called values and beliefs. I do hope they do their best to be neutral stance but with how things are its best we get a split justices for one side and split justice on the other.

No the upside down flag is a sign of distress you could have just asked a multitude of people who are patriotic Americans why they would fly a flag upside down instead of protecting what you would like to believe about them. They said it at the beginning of the show ffs

My six years USNR, my Vietnam service or even my Boy Scout xperience do not qualify me to know flag ettiquette. But if you try your "freedom of expression" in front of any veterans' group nobody could guarantee your safety.
