Eric....I am so very sorry for your loss of Hickstead. You are an incredible equestrian and person. Our thoughts are with you.I too lost a horse the same way. RIP Hickstead
So much more than just "horse and rider". More than friends. The trust is incredible. I hope he stays strong and whatever he decides for his future, he's made Canada so proud. Hickstead will always be with him, and remembered by Canada.
Hickstead will always be remembered. whenever anyone has asked me what do you do for horseback riding... i always told them to google hickstead because he was the definition of equestrian. He what every rider hoped for and what every rider and non rider loved to watch. he was a force of nature and is now resting at peace knowing the legacy he left behind...
This thought just came to me as Eric spoke of traveling, how do they get the horse(s) from continent to continent.....boat or private air? Never thought about that before. If someone knows, please respond. As for the video itself, it answered some questions, especially the actual cause of death. So sad, I balled like a baby when watching Hickstead go down. Prayers to Eric and to all of Hicksteads human family.
Seliece Duckwitz yes they fly on private jets. I’ve seen the inside of one many years ago it was amazing from the outside it looked like Just an airplane. But then when you walk up the rubber ramp like in some trailers and then all of a sudden your in what I can only describe as a hospital looking stall and cross tie area. It reminded me of the stall a horse I once rode was in at New Bolton equine ER in P.A. Every wall and the entire floor padded with thick rubber mats. Other than that it pretty much looked like the set up in a big horse van or 18 wheeler horse transport trailer (like the kind the big tb race horse farms have). What I have wondered about is how do they get around the animal quarantine protocols at the airports in all these different countries they travel too?
Mi chiedo come si può chiedere a un cavaliere come si sente riguardo a un cavallo che ha visto morire dopo averlo montato e dopo aver condiviso tante avventure con lui. Bah!
We are so sorry for the loss of this marvelous athlete. The world mourns

It’s such a perfect guy, he suffered much. It’s not easy.

It seems to me that it is little shaken by the death of the horse, that you think more about the legal and economic aspects. Mah ..
I don't believe him.
