I'll always love the choice of voice actor they gave to Golbez. For someone who's on the side of Chaos, Golbez has that "brother who gives life advices" kinda vibes to it and the tone given to him by it's VA matches perfectly
It's kinda funny how the only two faces you can associate his velvety old man voice with are the sexy, relatively young guy in After Years and the chubby, spry-looking toddler.
Riku and Cecil are a lot alike imo. Both started out as Dark Knights and were unsure of themselves and then became Warrior’s of Light (Keyblade master in Riku’s case) and became more self assured and confident.
@@6160spiderman That too, but the thing about Dissidia Cecil specifically is how he constantly swaps between the extremes of darkness and light. Pretty much everyone original to the KH-verse would have something to think about that. Like, imagine how baffled a Xehanort would be if they went "Embrace the darkness." only to then watch Cecil do just that, immediately, without any fanfare or consequences.
I noticed that on these cutscenes of the characters fighting their respective villain, they always toss a little reference to the og game, or to an artwork of the characters... like WoL making his classic Amano art pose, or Firion in the pose of FF2's box art, or Bartz and ExDeath facing each other in the pose of their sprites but I just can't identify in this one
Also the pose that Golbez do when he tries to restrain Cecil with his magic after the "THUS!" is the same as one of the official arts that Amano made of him.
It's kinda his gimmick, because he attacks in both ranges simultaneously, which is why his branching to HP attacks are dangerous because almost everything can chain into that
I think it's a fun mechanic for Cecil to switch between light and dark mode, but it's not very accurate to the lore of his game. In Final Fantasy IV, Cecil couldn't switch between modes, he began as a dark knight and later abandoned that path to become a Paladin. Once a Paladin, he could no longer use his dark powers for the rest of the game.
It sort of irks me. It's fucking cool to look at and I'd like to see Cecil's Dark Knight and Paladin abilities shown in full but the lore purist in me is screaming from the bottom of my heart.

Brother always needs and care about his brother in the end of the day no matter the differences

@@SirMoFoDans4 Now that you mentioned it, you're right
He also voiced Osborne in Cold Steel 1-3
I swear Kingdom Hearts could have such a field day with Dissidia Cecil.
I can see Sora teaming up with Cecil. And Riku and Golbez just talking things out after a boss fight.

Golbez the absolute unit!
He is built different. Why does he even use magic? He looks like he is about to snap a man in two with his bare hands.

If you look when he casts Darkness right when he says "Behold" - it's the same pose the FFIV Sprite Cecil uses when casting Darkness

I still love how Golbez hits you into his magic attack sometimes if he misses

I love these two so much! But... Yeah. Sorry Cecil, but I think I love Golbez a little bit more 😅
